After a long winter, spring training is here and close to wrapping up. That means one thing, the best time of the year is right around the corner with the MLB regular season coming back. With the expanded playoffs, that means the division races will be much tighter and competitive down the stretch of the regular season.

The best team in baseball came out of the NL West Division last season with the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers right behind them. Only three teams in the MLB won 100 or more games last season, and two of them came from the NL West.

MLB Divisions Before the Season Start

Let’s take a look at the MLB betting odds to each division and what may be a good bet this season.

AL East

The current favorite to win the AL East is the Toronto Blue Jays with +185 odds. The Blue Jays were last in the playoffs in 2015, when Jose Bautista hit a towering blast in Game 5 of the ALDS.

With George Springer now roaming the outfield and with Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. roaming the infield. This team is not short of star power.

The New York Yankees have the second-best odds in the division with +195 odds. The Yankees are in win-now mode. If they are not able to win the division and arguably a World Series, many current members may not have a job next week.

AL Central

The Chicago White Sox are the current favorites in the AL Central at -195 odds. The White Sox are the clear favorites in this division, and they should have no problem taking the central. They will have a core of their pitching staff back and plenty of star bats.

It was a disappointing postseason last year for the White Sox, and they want to make sure that does not happen again. Expect a big year from Chicago this season in the AL Central.

Both the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets got better in the offseason as well. Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos signed with the Phillies, and Max Scherzer signed with the Mets.

Look out for the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central this season. The Cardinals were one of the hottest teams in baseball towards the end of last season, and they are looking for redemption this season. They just need to stay healthy.
