The Brewers definitely got better over the weekend in landing former All-Star third baseman Mike Moustakas from Kansas City. Brewers’ manager Craig Counsell said that Moustakas is willing to try his hand at second base as well. He is the first Brewer to win the award since Aramis Ramírez won for the week of June 29-July 5, 2015. Yelich has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games. It’s rookie Walker Buehler (4-3, 3.92) here. Buehler’s season has been disrupted by a rib injury that led to disabled list stints and a Minor League option. He returned in Philadelphia on Wednesday but didn’t get out of the fifth inning, allowing 5 runs. It wasn’t as bad as the line suggests. Buehler had retired 11 straight in a 1-1 game before Scott Kingery snuck one just over the wall in right for a homer in the fifth. After that, he allowed a single and an RBI double to make it 3-1.
Manager Dave Roberts then had him intentionally walk Rhys Hoskins and lifted him from the game. Scott Alexander came in and allowed both runners on base to score, adding two more earned runs to Buehler’s total. The intentional walk was the only one issued by Buehler, and the rookie struck out five.
