Why Bet on Los Angeles?

Because the best pitcher on the planet, left-hander Clayton Kershaw, is on the mound. The Dodgers had considered starting him in Game 5 back in Los Angeles on three days of rest again and might have had L.A. been up 3-1 in the series. But Chicago’s 10-2 win in Game 4 assured that Kershaw was moved to Game 6. However, now that presumably means he won’t be available for even an inning in a potential Game 7.The Dodgers have won all four of Kershaw’s appearances in these playoffs. He pitched Game 2 at Wrigley Field and was brilliant in the 1-0 win. Kershaw retired his first 14 batters and allowed just two hits over seven innings. The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner struck out six and walked one while throwing just 84 pitches.Kershaw produced a game score of 78 — his highest in 13 career postseason starts. In LCS play, the performance marked the 17th occurrence a hurler has gone seven innings, allowed no runs and gave up no more than two hits and the first since the Cardinals’ Michael Wacha limited the Dodgers to two hits in seven innings to beat Kershaw and clinch the 2013 pennant (in Game 6). Kershaw was just 3-6 with a 4.79 ERA in 16 career postseason games coming into this series.

He pitched 5 1/3 innings of three-hit ball in his first outing since he left his Division Series start against San Francisco with a bruised right forearm. Hendricks’ only mistake was a second-inning fastball that Adrian Gonzalez drove over the wall in left-center for his second homer of the playoffs. Hendricks walked four batters, matching his single-season high this year.
