The question is simple MyBookie MLB betting enthusiasts. After winning it all in the COVID-19 shortened campaign last season, will the Los Angeles Dodgers repeat as World Series champs in 2021? Ironically, the answer may be even simpler than the query. Let’s examine what lies ahead for the perennially-powerful NL West residents as we get set for the quickly-approaching 2021 MLB regular season. With that in mind. let’s get right to it so you can make your bets against their MLB odds.
MLB – Will Dodgers Repeat World Series this Year?
The Big AdditionTrevor Bauer – The Dodgers added the reigning NL Cy Young winner on Feb. 11.
- Mookie Betts – RF
- Corey Seager – SS
- Justin Turner – 3B
- Cody Bellinger – CF -1B
- Will Smith – C
- Max Muncy – 1B-2B-3B
- AJ Pollock – LF
- Chris Taylor – 2B-OF-SS
Analysis: 2018 AL MVP winner Mookie Betts made a massive impact in his first season with LA a year ago. The five-tool superstar hit .292 with 16 homers and 39 RBI in 55 regular season games. 2019 NL MVP winner Cody Bellinger is looking for a bounce back season after hitting a tepid .239 last season. Corey Seager and Justin Turner both batted an identical .307 while catcher Will Smith hit an impressive .289 and AJ Pollock hit .276 with 16 home runs. In 2021, the Dodgers are expecting bigger contributions out of infielder Max Muncy (.192) and Chris Taylor (.270).
The bottom line is that the Dodgers have one of the top three all-round players in all of baseball in Betts, an MVP candidate in Bellinger and a host of other gifted players that all look like they have extremely bright futures. LA finished first in scoring last season (5.82 rpg), 11th in team batting average (.256), second in OPS (.821) and first in home runs (118). Putting runs on the board won’t be a problem in 2021.
- Clayton Kershaw
- Walker Buehler
- Trevor Bauer
- Julio Urias
- David Price
- Dustin May
Analysis: The Dodgers are still led by staff ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw who went 6-2 with a 2.16 ERA in 10 starts last season. Los Angeles made a huge offseason addition by acquiring reigning NL Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer in free agency. The veteran right-hander went 5-4 with Cincinnati in 11 starts but compiled a stunning 1.73 ERA to win the Cy Young hardware. Bauer is 79-64 in his career with a 3.90 ERA. At best, he could contend to the 2021 Cy Young award. At worse, Bauer looks like an innings-eating double-digit winner.
26-year-old right-hander Walker Buehler went 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA in eight starts last season after going a stellar 14-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 30 starts in 2019. Buehler has Cy Young kind of talent. The Dodgers also added veteran southpaw starter David Price after he opted out of the 2020 season. Price went 23-12 his final two years with Boston in 2018 and 2019 while going 46-24 with a 3.84 ERA in four seasons with the Red Sox. Price should be healthy and hungry in 2021.
- Kenley Jansen
- Blake Treinen
- Bursdar Graterol
- Tommy Kahnle
- Tony Gonsolin
- Corey Knebel
- Joe Kelly
- Dennis Santana
- Scott Alexander
- James Pazos
Analysis: Superstar closer Kenley Jansen is the big name out of the bullpen, but really, the Dodgers possess a ton of gifted, live arms. LA’s bullpen is a huge strength that most teams just can’t match.
- Dave Roberts
Analysis: In five seasons as the Dodgers manager, the likable Dave Roberts has gone 436-273 with a 38-27 mark in the postseason. Roberts is as good as they come today and a huge reason why the Dodgers won it all a year ago.
Analysis: Los Angeles went 43-17 last season to finish with the best record in the majors. More importantly, LA is loaded with elite talent all over the place. The Dodgers have at least two MVP candidates in the lineup, three Cy Young caliber starting pitchers, one of the best closers in all of baseball and one of the very best managers in the business. While I expect LA to be challenged by Atlanta and San Diego, first and foremost in 2021, there’s no doubt that the Dodgers could repeat in 2021. Will they get it done? I see absolutely no reason to see why they won’t!
