MLB News & Rumors: Rockies Part Ways with their GM, Reduced Suspension For Ryan Tepera & Christian Yelich Is Fully Recovered

Written by on April 27, 2021

We are still very early in the 2021 MLB season, but we are already seeing some unexpected results. As history has shown us, though, the cream usually finds a way to rise to the top over the course of 162 games. Even with that, we are already seeing some teams test the trade waters, which is a story that we will get to in just a moment. It’s the same deal with injuries and teams juggling lineups until they can get healthy. There is still a long way to go this season, so no reason for anyone to hit the panic button just yet. With all of that said, let’s take a look at what’s happening in the MLB news right now so you can continue making your bets against their MLB odds.

While you can look at some teams and see the possibility of them pulling out of a slow start, there are others where a poor start to the season looks more like a sign of things to come. That seems to the case with the Colorado Rockies, so it is probably not totally surprising to see that they and GM Jeff Bidrich have mutually agreed to part ways. What is surprising, though, is that the Rockies will put an interim GM in place and not look for a candidate until after this season. What that means is that the interim GM will preside over a trade deadline.

If you are more interested in moves that have a bigger impact on what happens in the field, then perhaps you should be keeping an eye on what is happening in New York. The feeling right now is that the Yankees loading their lineup with power hitters is not playing out as planned and that it’s maybe time to make a change. Even before the start of the season, the rumor is that the Yankees were in talks with the Angels about shipping out Aaron Judge, although the conversation was never really serious. Given the current climate in NYC, perhaps Judge may once again be on the trading block.

The league has decided to reduce the suspension of Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Tepera from 3 games down to just 2. The initial suspension came after a game against the Milwaukee Brewers, when Tepra threw behind Brandon Woodruff, seemingly in response to Wilson Contreras of the Cubs getting dinged by a pitch earlier in the proceedings. Tepera also received a fine for the incident, but he did see the reduction of his suspension after lodging an appeal.

The Milwaukee Brewers have received some good news this week, as it looks as though Christian Yelich will be back in the lineup before the end of the week. Yelich was yanked from the starting lineup back on April 11 after suffering a back strain. An MRI showed that there wasn’t any structural damage to speak of, which was great news for all involved. This is great for the Brewers, as they have been able to maintain a very good start to the season despite having to deal with more than their fair share of injury issues.
