Top MLB Picks of the Week

Weekly MLB Betting Picks

Written by on June 27, 2016

There is nothing quite like starting a new week of baseball with a little gaze into the crystal ball to see where some winning tickets may lie. When I do this, I tend to take a look at the pitching match-ups, as well as the current form of each team to see where the wins may be hiding. Some of the picks that I am going to deliver may not have the greatest MLB betting odds out there, but I think of them as safe wagers that will help pad my bankroll a little, which always means that you get to keep playing with house money. There are a few good bets out there this week, and it all begins with a good one on Monday night.

Weekly MLB Betting Picks

New York Mets at Washington Nationals – Monday, June 27

This has all the makings of a very good series, as these two teams are currently battling it out for the NL East division lead. The Mets are -110 in the opening game of the series, and the reason I like them to win this one is because they have Noah Syndergaard scheduled to head to the mound. Syndergaard (8-2, 2.08 ERA) is unbeaten in his last 9 starts, during which time he has gone 6-0. His last start versus Washington came earlier this season when he threw a 7-inning gem in a 2-0 win for the Mets.

Texas Rangers at New York Yankees – Tuesday, June 28

The Texas Rangers have been a very solid 21-15 on the road this season, and are in a rich vein of form at the moment, winning 8 of their last 10 games. They will send Cole Hamels (8-1, 2.79 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday night to face CC Sabathia. It’s a good pitching match-up, but one that has to fall in the favor of Hamels, who has won 3 straight whilst only giving up 2 earned runs in the process.

Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays – Wednesday, June 29

Divisional games are always fun to bet on, and in this series, you have two teams heading in very opposite directions. The Rays are starting out this week on an 11-game losing skid, while the Red Sox are trying to maintain their push for the top in the AL East. Tampa are 5-games below .500 at home this season, while Boston has managed to put together a winning record on the road. I’m looking for David Price (8-4, 4.79 ERA) to have a bounce back game here after a rough outing in his last start.

Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves – Thursday June 30

I have been looking to see if I could find a game this week where the betting odds underdog might be able to come through. I think that might possibly happen here, as the Atlanta Braves are on a decent little run of form that has seen them go 7-3 in their last 10 games. Freddie Freeman is hitting the cover off the ball right now, and it seems to be inspiring everyone else in the line-up. Julio Teheran (3-7, 2.46 ERA) has been solid this season, but has been getting no run support. I think that changes here with the Atlanta win.
