2022 Dana White’s Contender Series Week 1 Betting Analysis and MMA Picks

In the world of the UFC, there really is no such thing as job security. This is an organization that wants to see the best of the best step into the octagon in any given week, which is why they have no qualms about cutting underperforming fighters and replacing them with new blood. The question here is where those new fighters come from. There are a variety of different sources, which includes Dana White’s Contender Series, which is set to begin Season 6 starting on Tuesday night. Think of this event as a scouting trip for White as he looks to find new talent, so there is a lot to fight for here for those involved. Week 1 is almost upon us, with 5 fights on the main car. Let’s take a closer look at the matchups so you can bet against their MMA odds.

MMA Betting Picks and Preview for Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 1

Alessandro Costa Vs Andres Luna Martinetti

We start the night with a Flyweight bout between a pair of very good fighters. Costa comes into this one with a 10-2 record and a 5-fight win streak, all of which came in the Lux Fight League. That’s a great record, but it pales in comparison to Martinetti, who is a perfect 12-0 ahead of this one/ This should be a great start to the night, and I have Matinetti winning by decision.

Dennis Buzukja Vs Kaleio Romero

The next fight of the night is a Featherweight bout between a pair of fighters in good form. Buzukja comes into this one with a 7-2 record, which includes wins in each of his last 3 fights, although he had to go the distance in 2 of them. Romero is 6-1 and has only ever had 1 fight go the distance, so he has a habit of getting the job done early. I think he is in trouble here, as I like Buzukja to win.

Anton Turkalj Vs Acacio dos Santos

We have a couple of Light Heavyweights stepping into the octagon next for what should be a great fight. Turkalj comes in as the favorite after posting a 7-0 record in his pro career, with his last 3 fights ending inside the distance. Dos Santos is 14-4 and a winner of 4 of his last 5 fights. I don’t see this one going all the way, as I like Turkalj for the KO win.

Farid Basharat Vs Willian Souza

We have a Bantamweight bout up next, with these fighters combining for just 1 loss in their pro careers. Baharat is a perfect 8-0 and has some serious finishing power, with 6 of his 8 wins coming inside the distance. He will have his hands full with Souza, who is an impressive 11-1 and winner of 11 in a row after losing his first pro fight. I’m taking Basharat for the decision win.

Ozzy Diaz Vs Joseph Pyfer

The main event of the night is a Middleweight bout that has the potential to be a great battle. Diaz is on a 5-fight win streak that has taken his professional record to 7-1. Pyfer is 8-2, but those 2 losses have come during his last 5 fights, so he might be a tough bet in this one. That said, he is a slight favorite, but I am all over Diaz for the KO win.
