NASCAR 2022 Whelen Modified Tour: Jersey Shore 150 Betting Favorites & Analysis

When it comes to NASCAR, we tend to focus on the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series, but that is not all that is going on in NASCAR. They also sanction the Whelen Modified Tour, which is an open-wheeled division that has been going since 1985. If you are looking for something a little different for your NASCAR viewing, then this might be the way to go. The Jersey Shore 150 is set to go on Saturday night at 8 PM EST and will mark the 8th race of the current season. It is a tight race at the top of the driver standings, let’s take a look at a few who might be in the hunt this weekend so you can place your bets against the NASCAR Betting Odds.

NASCAR Whelen Modified Betting Preview for Jersey Shore 150 Race

Ronnie Silk

This is the driver who is currently sitting atop the driver standing, but what may come as a surprise is that he is yet to win a race this season. Silk got off to a bit of a slow start, but he has been knocking on the door of late, landing on the podium in 3 of the last 5 races. That has him on 272 points, good enough for an 18-point lead at the top. This is a guy that is overdue for a win, so he will certainly be worth a look on Saturday.

Eric Goodale

Like Silk, Goodale is coming into this race still looking for his first win of the year. He started out strong, finishing 2nd in the opening race of the year, but he has failed to make it to the podium in the 6 races following the opener. On the plus side, he has consistently been in the top 10 in races, which has allowed him to pick up some valuable points in the race for the top spot.

Jon McKennedy

We are seeing a common theme here, as this is another driver still on the hunt for his first win of the season. McKennedy has raced off and on in the Whelen Modified Tour for the past 12 years and has only managed 1 win during his career. That said, he has landed in the top 10 in more than half of the 82 career races that he has run, so this is a guy that you can bet will be among the leaders.

Tommy Catalano

Catalano is sitting 4th overall in the driver standings on what is his 5th year on the tour. Yes, you guessed it, he has yet to win this season and is in fact still looking for his first win at this level in a career spanning 56 races. He has also only ended up in the top 5 in 4 of those career races, although 2 of them have come this season, so he could be in the mix.

Justin Bonsigniore

It was a rough start to the season for Bonsigniore, as he was unable to finish the opening race of the season. He followed that up in a big way by winning the second race, but he has been a little up and down since then. On the plus side, he has a win and a 2nd in his last 2 races, which is the type of form that suggests he will be a serious contender this weekend.
