Top 5 players of the 2020 NBA Playoffs

Anthony Davis – LA Lakers – While the addition of LeBron James helped bring the Lakers back into the big time, it was landing Davis that turned this team into a legitimate championship contender. Through the first 3 games of the NBA finals, Davis is averaging over 28 PPG, while shooting over 58% from the floor. He is not a player that makes a ton of 3-point attempts, but when he does, he is hitting close to 40%. He is also averaging over 9 rebounds per game, so he is getting it done on both sides of the court. I would suggest that Davis will be the playoff MVP if the Lakers win.

Jayson Tatum – Boston Celtics – The Celtics came up a little short this season, losing in 7 games in the Eastern Conference Final. If you look at the overall stats for the playoffs, one thing that stands out is that Tatum is the only player in the top 5 to have averaged over 40 minutes per game. That is a work horse type of performance, plus he has the stats to back up all that time played.

Jimmy Butler – Miami Heat – We mentioned earlier how good Jimmy Butler was in Game 3 of the Finals, but it is worth talking about just how good that performance was. With his team in danger of going in an 0-3 hole, Butler delivered a 40-point triple-double, as well as a 70% field goal average. That game aside, Butler has been very good for the Heat from start to finish this postseason.

LeBron James – LA Lakers – We have become so accustomed to James dominating in the postseason that it’s easy to overlook him when putting together these types of lists. I would argue that Anthony Davis has been the best player on the Lakers throughout this postseason, but LeBron has still put up some very solid numbers. He is not being forced to carry this team, which has allowed him to be efficient and clinical.

Jamal Murray – Denver Nuggets – Perhaps one of the more pleasant surprises of the postseason was the play of Jamal Murray. He really upped his game in the playoffs, averaging 26.5 PPG, which was a full 8 PPG more than he averaged in the regular season. He basically upped his numbers across the board and was a big reason why Denver made it all the way to the Western Conference Final.
