WNBA Odds & Picks for the Games of the Week

Written by on July 27, 2020

We are on the brink of having a ton of sports action to wager on now, with the NBA and NHL just days away from resuming their season. While things still don’t really feel quite the same, it is still nice to have watching and wagering options available to us. The MLB started back this weekend, as did the WNBA, with the opening days of the women’s basketball delivering some real surprises, not the least of which was the Atlanta Dream dropping 105 points in their first game back. They are one of the biggest longshots to win it all this season, so are they going to be a surprise package, or are they a one hit wonder? Time will tell. There are a lot of games on the schedule this week, so let’s take a look at some of the bigger games on the calendar so you can place your bets against their WNBA odds.

WNBA Games of the week – Highlights, Top Picks, Odds

Los Angeles Sparks at Chicago Sky – Tuesday

2016 was the last time that we saw the Sparks hoist the championship trophy, but they are once again in as one of the favorites to win it all this season. This will be the second straight road game to start the season for the Sparks, who came away with a comfortable 99-76 win over the Phoenix Mercury. The Chicago Sky also saw their season get off to a winning start, but it was not quite as convincing, as they had to go all the way down to the wire to pull off an 88-86 win over the Las Vegas Aces on the road. The Sparks have won 4 of the last 5 meetings with the Sky, but they did lose the last time they met. I am on LA to get the win here.

  • Pick: LA Sparks 85 Chicago Sky 81

Atlanta Dream at Las Vegas Aces – Wednesday

Heading into the season and looking at the schedule, you would immediately have looked at this one as a mismatch. A lot of pundits are picking the Dream to finish at the bottom of the heap this season, while the Las Vegas Aces are among the favorites. Look at Day 1, though, and you might get the idea that the reverse is true. The Dream pounded the Dallas Wings 105-95, while the Aces lost a squeaker at home. This is a matchup that Atlanta has had the best of in recent seasons, winning 4 of the last 6. That said, I think Las Vegas bounces back with a win here.

  • Pick: Atlanta Dream 87 Las Vegas Aces 94

Seattle Storm at Washington Mystics – Thursday

The teams that have won the WNBA Championship in the past two seasons go head to head on Thursday night in what may well be the game of the week. Both teams got their seasons off to a winning start, with both putting in very strong performances. The Mystics hammered the Indiana Fever 101-76, while Seattle had a comfortable 87-71 win over the New York Liberty. Seattle has had the best of this matchup over the years, but the Mystic have won the last two meetings. I am taking Washington to make it 3 in a row.

  • Pick: Seattle Storm 83 Washington Mystics 88

Indiana Fever at Dallas Wings – Friday

The season has only just begun, but the last thing any teams wants to do is get off to a start that sees them take back to back losses. Like it or not, one of these teams is going to do just that. Dallas may have had the worst start to the season, losing to Atlanta in spite of scoring 95 points. Indiana took a hammering, too, but that loss was expected against the Washington Mystics. Indiana has had the best of this matchup over the years and come into this game having won each of their last 5 versus Dallas. More of the same here, I believe.

  • Pick: Indiana Fever 79 Dallas Wings 74
