Boston Reign Supreme: Early Odds Show Celtics as Favorites to Repeat in 2025

Boston Reign Supreme: Early Odds Show Celtics as Favorites to Repeat in 2025

The Boston Celtics routed the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night for their first championship since 2008 and 18th title overall, breaking a tie for the most with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Can the Celtics repeat next June? The Bookies already have installed them as clear +280 favorites. The NBA has not had a repeat champion since the Golden State Warriors in 2018.

Early 2025 NBA Finals prediction: Celtics over Thunder

Boston Celtics Champions

The Celtics are the sixth different NBA champion in the last six seasons. The only other instance with six different NBA champions in a six-season span was 1974-75 to 1979-1980. The Celtics became the seventh team since the NBA-ABA merger to claim the title after winning at least 55 games and outscoring regular-season opponents by 10-plus points per game. Teams that win the first three games of a best-of-seven playoff series now have a series record of 157-0, including 15-0 in the NBA Finals.

Behind 31 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists from Jayson Tatum and 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists from Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, the Celtics rolled to a 106-88 win over Dallas on Monday to win that 18th title ironically on the 16th anniversary of the day they won their 17th championship in the same TD Garden building. Brown earned his MVP award behind series averages of 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5 assists, while also consistently guarding Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.

Playoffs for Boston Celtics

The Celtics finished the playoffs 16-3, second only to the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors (16-1) in winning percentage since the NBA went to four best-of-seven rounds of the playoffs in 2003.

Boston before Monday’s win had played more postseason games over an eight-season span without winning a title than any team in NBA history. That run involved six trips to the Eastern Conference finals, including last year’s loss in seven games to the Heat, when Boston became the fourth team ever to force a Game 7 after falling behind 3-0.

Jayson Tatum

“I mean, this is going to be a night that I will remember for the rest of my life, from the game, the celebration, these moments,” Tatum said. “Over the last couple years, we had some tough losses at home in the playoffs. We’ve lost the NBA championship at home in front of our fans. We had a chance to beat Miami in Game 6 a few years ago and lost that one.”

Tatum and Brown are just 26 and 27, respectively. Tatum has made first-team All-NBA in three straight seasons. Brown made third-team last season and barely missed this season. No team has a better 1-2 punch at such a young age. The fact the Celtics play in the Eastern Conference, which appears to be much easier to navigate in the years ahead than the daunting Western Conference, helps, too.

Monday was veteran Al Horford’s 186th career postseason game with three different teams in the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston. It marked his first title after Horford had played in more playoff games than any other active player in the league without one.

Karl Malone holds the record for most postseason games without a title (193). Horford became the fourth player to win his first title in his 17th season or later, joining Juwan Howard (18th year), Kevin Willis (18th) and Mavericks coach Jason Kidd (17th, with the Mavericks in 2011).

^

Kristaps Porzingis

Every key player should be back for Boston including Kristaps Porzingis, who was unable to play in Games 3 and 4 and limited to 16 minutes in Game 5 due to a leg injury. He will have surgery and need a few months rehab but should be ready to start the 2024-25 season.

Porzingis suffered a torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in Game 2 — an injury the team described as “rare” in its news release.

^

2024-2025 Season

As the defending NBA champion, Boston will open the 2024-25 regular season at home at some point in mid-October TBA – probably the 22nd – to raise that championship banner.

The Denver Nuggets of course were the 2023 NBA champions, their first title, but their repeat chances ended this year in a seven-game loss to Minnesota in the West semifinals.

The Nuggets still have the best player on the planet in three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and are +800 to win it all next season, followed by rising Oklahoma City (+850) and Minnesota (+900) and then Milwaukee (+950) and Dallas (+1000).

The Mavericks absolutely could be back in the 2025 Finals as their core seven-man rotation in the playoffs featured only one player (Kyrie Irving) over the age of 27. Doncic is still only 25.

Dereck Lively II, who looks like a future All-Star at center, just finished his rookie season. Their starting lineup, which went 27-6 before the Finals, was assembled at the trade deadline and should only improve with continuity.

Odds to Win Championship at 2024 Playoffs

At the end of the regular season, the bookies tend to have a definite idea of which teams they believe will make a deep run in the playoffs.

Keep an eye on our NBA Lines to Win it all, analysis, odds, and other important things to consider for the remainder of the season with the Celtics, Nuggets, Thunder and Timberwolves.

My Analysis

That can all change rather quickly once the games begin, which is what we are seeing now. Some teams that were considered to be among the favorites are seeing their odds head in the wring direction, while others are seeing their odds shorten. This is why we keep an eye on the odds, as one or two games can see the outlook change. We have seen the Minnesota Timberwolves already win their opening round series and move on, with a couple more on the brink of doing the same. With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at the current odds to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

Boston Celtics Championship Odds +125

The expectation was that the Celtics would cruise through their opening round series against the Miami Heat, but they have been given an early scare. Boston won Game 1 comfortably, but they were then double-digit losers in Game 2, which was all the more stunning given that the Celtics had only lost 4 games at home throughout the regular season. That loss seemed to serve as a wake-up call, as they destroyed the Heat in Game 3 in Miami. Sometimes the best teams need to lose a game to snap them out of thinking things will be easy, and with that happening to Boston, I’m sure they will now close out this series rather quickly.

Denver Nuggets Championship Odds +240

The old adage goes that the 4th game is the hardest one to win in the series, even when you have a team very much on the ropes. The Nuggets swept the Lakers in their regular season series and looked to be set to do the same in the postseason, winning the first 3 games of their Round 1 series. The Lakers, though, staved off elimination with a win in Game 4, but now the series moves back to Denver, where the Nuggets have not lost to LeBron and company all season long. I think we will see the Nuggets close things out in Game 5 as they edge one step closer to a repeat.

Oklahoma City Thunder Championship Odds +900

If you are of the belief that the Oklahoma City Thunder are going to win it all this year, now might be the time to place that wager. They have a 3-0 lead over the New Orleans Pelicans in Round 1, and those odds are going to shorten if they get that 4th win and close things out in Game 4. The first game in the series was close, with the Thunder eking out a 2-point win, but they have had the pedal to the metal ever since, winning Games 2 and 3 in convincing fashion. I think they close out the series with the sweep.

Minnesota Timberwolves Championship Odds +950

As we mentioned at the top of this piece, the Timberwolves are the only team, at this time, to have clinched a spot in Round 2. They did that with a convincing sweep of the Suns in the opening round, winning all 4 games and never really looking in any kind of danger in any of the games. They are going to have a much tougher time of it in Round 2, though, as it looks like they will be going up against the Denver Nuggets.

Championship Odds After the 2024 Regular Season

The NBA regular season came to a close over the weekend, which means that the playoffs are now upon us.

2024 NBA Championship Odds to Win | MyBookie NBA Finals Betting

Of course, before we get to the first round, there is the business of the play-in games to attend to, the outcome of which will determine the top 8 teams in each conference, as well as the matchups for Round 1. Even without knowing who will come out of the play-in matchups, we still have a very solid idea as to who might win the NBA Championship in the end, as it is more than a little unlikely to be a team that has to go through the play-in. The bookies have a definite opinion on the teams that are going to be in the hunt, so let’s take a close look at the current NBA Championship odds.

Boston Celtics +160

Absolutely zero surprise to see the Boston Celtics in as the favorite to end the season as the champions of the NBA. They ended the season with a record of 64-18, which was easily the best in the league. They won the Eastern Conference by 14 games and look like a team destined to make a deep run. Helping their cause is the fact that they will have home court advantage throughout the postseason, which is huge for a team that posted a 37-4 record in their own building in the regular season.

Denver Nuggets +300

You guys are going to see from the odds listed here that the bookies believe we are looking at two very definite favorites in each conference. The Denver Nuggets came into this season as the defending champions, with the feeling being that they will once again be the team to beat in the Western Conference. This is despite the fact that they had to settle for the #2 seed after losing out to the Oklahoma City Thunder via a tiebreaker. The West is a lot more competitive than the East, so getting to the NBA Finals will mean having to beat some very good teams.

Nuggets Odds to Win
Las Vegas NBA Odds to Win Championship

LA Clippers +1000

I have to say that I am a little surprised to see the Clippers in this spot given that they will be starting as the #4 seed in the West. They are also heading into the postseason on a 3-game losing skid, which has to be more than a little concerning. That said, they have very similar records at home and on the road, so they are more than capable of picking up wins without relying on home court advantage.

Clippers Odds to Win
Las Vegas NBA Odds to Win Championship

Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder both at +1200

The Bucks were widely considered to be one of the top teams in the league heading into the season, but they were highly inconsistent, even after pulling the trigger on a coaching change earlier in the year. They will start as the #3 seed in the East and look like a team that is hard to get behind, due in large part to their inconsistency.

You have to give some serious props to the Thunder for coming from behind to land the #1 seed in the Western Conference. They closed out the regular season with 5 straight wins and have the 2nd best conference record behind the Timberwolves. All of that makes them worth a look at what are very decent odds.

2024 Updated Odds to Win NBA Championship in Week 23

Over the past couple of months of the NBA regular season, we have been taking a weekly look at the updated championship odds, watching as the odds shifted from week to week.

2024 NBA Championship Odds to Win | MyBookie NBA Week 23 of the Season

For the most part, we have focused on the top 4 teams in the eyes of the bookies, but we got to thinking that it might not end up being one of those teams that ends up going on to win it all. There is usually always a surprise in the mix, a dark horse team that puts it all together once the postseason arrives and goes on a deep run. On the flipside, we often see top teams go in the tank in the playoffs and going out long before any of us expected. With that in mind, we are taking a longer look at the current NBA odds this week, so let’s get right to it.

Boston Celtics +210

It probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that follows that NBA to find out that the Celtics odds have been shortening dramatically over the past few weeks. They are undoubtedly the best team in the league right now with a record of 57-16, which is 6 more wins than the next best team. They have already clinched the #1 seed in the East and will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. That might be the biggest factor here when you consider that Boston is a staggering 32-3 in their own building. Every team they face is going to need to find a way to pick up a win or two in the Garden. Good luck.

Celtics Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Denver Nuggets +300

We have been saying for a while now that we believe the Nuggets will end up with the #1 seed in the Western Conference, even when they were down in 3rd. After winning 4 in a row and 9 of their last 10 games, that is exactly where they are, although they are only a half game up in what is an exciting battle for that top seed. Interestingly enough, though, there are 2 teams in the West who have a better conference than the Nuggets at the moment, but Denver is also playoff proven after winning it all last season.

Nuggets Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

LA Clippers +650

I have to say that I am not entirely sold on the Clippers at the moment, as they have fallen off the pace in the West and are now down in 4th, 6 ½ games out of the lead. They have lost 2 in a row and have won just 4 of their last 10 games, and while there is still time for them to get back on track and get into a groove heading into the postseason, at this stage, 4th is probably the best they can hope for. That would give them home court advantage in Round 1, but after that, all bets are off.

Clippers Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Milwaukee Bucks +750

There are few teams in the NBA that can boast a lineup as talented as what Milwaukee brings every night, which makes their performance this season all the more frustrating. For a while, it looked as though we might see the Bucks and Celtics get into an epic 2-horse race, but Milwaukee started losing games that they should easily have won and have basically been totally inconsistent all season. Their current form tells you all you need to know, as they are just 5-5 over their last 10 games. They are still a dangerous bunch, but can they get into a groove and pick up the consistency required for a deep playoff run?

Bucks Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Oklahoma City Thunder +1800

As you can see from the odds, there is a reason why we have been solely focusing on the top 4 over the past couple of months. There is a rather large drop off in the odds after the top 4 teams, but that doesn’t mean that one of these dark horse teams can’t go on and win the NBA Finals. The Thunder have been in and out of the top spot in the Western Conference and are just a half game back of the Nuggets right now. They have won 8 of their last 10 games and are 32-15 against conference opponents, so they really can’t be counted out of any series.

Thunder Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Phoenix Suns +2200

The Suns spent some time in the top 4 on the bookies board, but their odds have drifted in the wrong direction for several weeks now. As it stands right now, the Suns are going to need to take the longer road to the Finals, as they are stuck in the play-in zone in the Western Conference. They are, though, just a game out of the top 6, so they certainly still have time to move their way back into an automatic playoff berth, but like the Bucks, they have had some serious issues with consistency.

Suns Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Minnesota Timberwolves +2200

Of the teams that are sitting down around these odds, I think the Timberwolves might be the one most worthy of a long hard look. They are still in with a shot at the #1 seed in the Western Conference, as they are just a game and a half back right now, although with 2 teams sitting ahead of them and both in great form, that gap might be hard to bridge. They have won 7 of their last 10 and have solid records both at home and away. The one thing that really jumps out for me is their record in conference games, which is 34-12. That just happens to be the best in the conference and suggests they could hold their own against anyone.

Timberwolves Odds to Win
Current Odds to Win NBA Championship

Sitting just behind this group are the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, both of whom are currently at +2800. It’s hard to make much of a case for either of these teams at the moment, although I think the Mavericks have the better shot of the two at springing some sort of upset once the playoffs roll around.

2024 Updated Odds to Win NBA Championship in Week 22

As we near the end of another week in the NBA, it’s fair to say that the playoff picture is starting to take shape.

2024 NBA Championship Odds to Win | MyBookie NBA Week 22 of the Season

The Eastern Conference has already been locked up, with the Boston Celtics claiming the #1 seed with a win over Milwaukee on Wednesday night. The top 10 seeds seem to be locked in place at this point, although there is still the seeding to take care of. Things are much tighter in the West, with the battle for the #1 seed essentially now a 3-horse race. Similarly to the East, the top 10 seems to be set in stone, with the seeding all that is left to decide. With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at the most current odds to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

Boston Celtics +225

For a large portion of the Wednesday night game against the Milwaukee Bucks, it looked as though the Celtics were going to cruise to the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks made a game of it, though, eventually losing by 2 points in what was a highly entertaining game to watch. With that win, the Boston Celtics have now won 7 straight games to improve their overall record to 55-14, which is far and away the best record in all of basketball. Their home record continues to loom large, and now that they are the #1 seed through the playoffs, which means home court advantage, they are going to be tough to beat.

Denver Nuggets +325

As we mentioned earlier in this piece, there is a very tight race at the top of the Western Conference standings. The Denver Nuggets, who are the defending NBA champions, are in the mix, sitting a half game out of the lead after winning 8 of their last 10 games overall. The general feeling is that they will find a way to get to the top as we come down the stretch, which would once again put them in pole position to represent the West in the NBA Finals. We already know that this team is playoff proven, so it certainly would not be a surprise to see them make another run.

LA Clippers +550

Unless things start to change rather quickly, I would be surprised to see the Clippers maintain this level of favoritism. They have cooled off rather dramatically of late, playing .500 ball over the last 10 games to fall 5 ½ games out of the lead. To me, there are better options to be found in the team sitting above them in the Western Conference, but the fact of the matter is that some teams are better suited to the stress of the postseason. The bookies seem to think that the Clippers are one such team.

Milwaukee Bucks +750

Even though the Bucks may have lost to the Celtics in a huge game on Wednesday night, the way in which they battled to the end and made it close may just have changed the perceptions of a lot of pundits and fans. The truth is that we never really know what we are going to get from the Bucks on any given night, but they are still 2nd in the East and will have home court advantage for a couple of rounds if they can hang onto that spot. That Wednesday night performance proves that they might be able to do just that.

2024 Updated Odds to Win NBA Championship in Week 21

We are heading into the final month of the NBA regular season, with the playoffs now very much on the horizon.

2024 NBA Championship odds to Win | MyBookie NBA Week 20 of the Season

Making a guess as to who will win it all this season is still nothing more than pure speculation, as there is still a lot that can happen between now and crowning a champion. There is still the chance that one team or another can get hot in the final weeks and go into the postseason on a roll that takes them deep and perhaps ends in one of the favorites going down sooner than expected. Putting that aside for now, we do have some ideas as to which teams can make a deep run, so let’s look at the current NBA Championship odds.

Boston Celtics +220

Each passing week sees the Celtics odds to win the championship shorten, as they continue to pile up wins and look like the team to beat. In fact, they are the only team to have passed the 50-win mark, sitting atop the Eastern Conference with a record of 51-14. Their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference is now up to 9 ½ games, but as good as they have been, regular season dominance does not always carry over into the postseason. That said, the Celtics will have home court advantage through the playoffs, and at 29-3 in their own building, they are going to be tough to beat.

Denver Nuggets +400

The race in the Western Conference is incredibly tight, but we have been saying for a few weeks that we believe the Denver Nuggets will eventually land the #1 seed. Right now, that prediction looks good, as the defending champions have taken over the #1 seed in the West, albeit just a half game up on the chasing pack. The Nuggets do not have the best conference record, which could be problematic, but this is a team that is playoff proven, so it is impossible to count them out.

LA Clippers +500

Given that the Clippers have been playing .500 ball of late and are now down in 4th in the Western Conference, it is perhaps a little surprising to see them this high up on the bookies board. They are, though, just 4 games out of first place in the Western Conference, and if they are able to finish strong, they might be able to improve their seeding, although you do have to say that the #1 seed is a bit of a reach. It is going to be interesting to see if they can get out of this mediocre slump and back into championship contention.

Milwaukee Bucks +750

If you have been wagering on the Bucks this season, you have probably had some moments of real frustration. This is a team that is brimming with talent, but they have made a habit of losing games that they shouldn’t. Because of that, they are now down in the #3 spot in the Eastern Conference, 9 ½ games back of the Celtics. What is interesting, though, is that they have the 2nd best conference record at 29-13, so perhaps beating them over the course of a series is not going to be as easy as some might think.

2024 Updated Odds to Win NBA Championship in Week 20

Another week of NBA action is in the books, which means that we are now another step closer to finding out who will end this season as the champion.

2024 NBA Championship odds to Win | MyBookie NBA Week 20 of the Season

There are a few teams who immediately pop into mind when you think about the eventual outcome of the 2024 season, but as we have seen in the past, a great regular season does not always translate into playoff success. Still, if you have yet to make a wager on the NBA Championship, all you really have to go on is what teams do throughout the regular season. The bookies certainly have their opinion on who might be in the hunt for the crown, so let’s look at the most recent odds for the NBA Championship.

  • Boston Celtics +225
  • Denver Nuggets +450
  • Milwaukee Bucks +700
  • LA Clippers +500

Boston Celtics

There is no change at the top, with the Boston Celtics still in as the favorite, with their odds to win it all shortening with each passing week. It’s easy to understand why they are considered the team to beat, as they have 5 more wins (48) than any other team in the league and now look like a lock to be the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. As it stands now, Boston is 8 games up on their closest rival and looks to be in no danger of letting that lead slip, winning 9 of their last 10 games. Given that they are a staggering 29-3 at home, you have to wonder who can knock them off in a series if they get home court advantage from start to finish.

Denver Nuggets

It has to be a little frustrating to be a fan of the Nuggets this season, although given that they are the defending NBA champions, it’s tough to be too hard on them. Every time it looks as though they are about to take the top spot in the West, they hit a minor slump that holds them back. They have gone 6-4 in their last 10 games and remain in the #3 slot, a single game out of first. Another concern is that there are several top 6 teams with a better conference record than the Nuggets, but given that this team is playoff proven, it might not be a major factor.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are similar to the champs in that they have a lineup that many fans feel should be delivering more. Perhaps we have all set the bar a little too high for the Bucks, and if truth be told, they are not having a terrible season by any stretch of the imagination. Their 41 wins to this point have them in the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference, which, at this stage of the proceedings, is probably the best they can hope for. This is a streaky team that could put it all together in the playoffs, so I would not write them off.

LA Clippers

The Clippers saw their odds shorten after a very positive run of form a few weeks back, but they are now heading in the opposite direction after their last 10 games, where they have gone 5-5. Still, that positive run proved that they have the ability to get on a hot streak, so it is going to be interesting to see if they can slip back into a higher gear in the final weeks of the regular season. If they can, watch out when the playoffs start.

2024 Updated Odds to Win NBA Championship in Week 19

Another week of the NBA regular season is in the books, as we head ever closer to the playoffs and the final battle for those coveted postseason spots. 2024 NBA Champions Odds | MyBookie NBA | Finals: June 2024 | Week 19 of the Season

With each passing week, the odds to Win NBA Championship continue to change, so if you are waiting for those odds to start turning in your favor, you may well be leaving it too late to get the best odds on the team that you like to end the season as the champion. With that in mind, it’s time to take our weekly look at the favorites and the odds as they stand now, so let’s dive right in and make it happen.

Boston Celtics +250

Denver Nuggets +475

LA Clippers +500

Milwaukee Bucks +650

Boston Celtics +250

Another week gone and the Denver Nuggets continue to remain the favorite to end the season as the NBA champion. Their odds seem to be getting shorter every single week, which is no real surprise when you consider that this team is on another big winning streak. They have now won 9 in a row to take an 8-game lead in the Eastern Conference. At this late stage of the season, it really is only a matter of time before they clinch the #1 seed. That particular scenario is not good news for the rest of the league, with the Celtics sitting at 27-3 in their own building this season. They are, and will continue to be, the team to beat this postseason.

Denver Nuggets +475

While the end of the season is now very much in sight, there is still plenty of time for things to change, especially in the West, where the battle for top spot is incredibly tight. The Denver Nuggets are sitting down in the #3 seed at the moment, but they are playing good ball, winning 4 in a row and 7 of their last 10. They have not been able to really close the 2-game gap at the top, though, as the 2 teams ahead of them are on similar positive runs of form. The Nuggets could still take the top spot in the final weeks, and since they are the champs, we know they are playoff proven.

Los Angeles Clippers +500

The Clippers Bucks have been making a move that has seen their odds shorten in recent weeks, but if that cannot recover their form quickly, they could be heading in the opposite direction soon enough. They have lost 2 in a row and are now just 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Clippers still have a solid record against conference opponents, as well as a very food home record, but the latter will mean very little if they cannot find a way to start moving up the Western standings again.

Milwaukee Bucks +650

When they are at the top of their game, there is no denying that the Bucks are one of the most talented teams in the league. The problem here, though, is that they sleepwalk through too many games, which is why they have been playing .500 ball over the last 10 games. That said, there may be signs that they are snapping out of their current funk, as they have now won 3 in a row, which has them a half game out of 2nd in the East, and 8 ½ games back of the Celtics. At this point, the #2 seed has to be their current goal.

We tend to fall into the belief that games played in the early part of the season don’t really count for that much, but there always comes a time where teams look back and see that those early losses ended up costing them a better seeding in the playoffs. 2024 NBA Champions Odds | MyBookie NBA | Finals: June 2024 | Week 18 of the Season

That said, you cannot deny that things tend to move up a notch once we get the All-Star Game out of the way and head into the home stretch of the NBA regular season. The real battle for playoff spots starts now, but who will be able to handle that pressure in the coming weeks? The bookies have an idea, so it’s time, once again, to look at the current favorites to win the NBA Championship, so let’s dive right in.

Boston Celtics +275

Denver Nuggets +425

Milwaukee Bucks +700

LA Clippers +800

Boston Celtics

The Celtics are once again sitting atop the bookies board and are once again seeing their championship odds shorten. If their season continues the way it had s gone to this point, we should see those odds shrink again, so now might be the best time to play them if you think they win will it all. The Celtics are the only team to have crossed the 40-win mark, which gives them the best record in the NBA heading into the 2nd half. They have won 6 in a row and now hold a 6-game lead at the top of the Eastern Conference. All signs point to them being a major threat in the postseason.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are arguably in this position because they are the defending champions, as they certainly don’t look like a team ready to repeat. The Nuggets were probably happy to see the break arrive since it came at a time when they were on a 3-game losing skid and playing .500 ball over the last 10 games. Despite all of that, they are still just 3 games out of the lead in the Western Conference, but since they are down in 4th right now, they will be looking to deliver a strong push in the second half of the season.

Milwaukee Bucks

This is a team whose stock is falling rather dramatically, as their all-star lineup still seems unable to fully gel. A coaching change has made little difference, with the Bucks now just 3-7 over their last 10 games. That has them down in 3rd in the Eastern Conference and suggests that we are going to need to see a serious improvement out of them if they are to be considered a legitimate championship threat. Maybe they are saving their best for the postseason but switching it off and on seldom ends well.

LA Clippers

Slowly but surely, the LA Clippers have started rising in the ranks in the Western Conference, with the bookies taking notice of that move. They ended the first half of the season on a run that saw them win 7 of 10, a run that now leaves them just 2 games out of the top spot in the conference. Their home record id excellent, so you can bet that they will be pushing for that #1 seed in the West, as getting home court advantage all the way to the Finals would put them in very good standing.

2024 NBA Championship Odds Week 17

We are at a critical stage in the NBA season. The All-Star Break is now just a couple of days away and the trade deadline has passed. 2024 NBA Champions Odds | MyBookie NBA | Finals: June 2024 | Week 17 of the Season

The upcoming break is essentially the calm before the storm, with the final months of the season devoted to making a final push for the playoffs. Now that we know what every squad looks like, barring potential injuries, of course, we all now have a clear idea of who we think will win the NBA Championship. Whether those thoughts line up with those of the bookies remains to be seen, so it’s once again time to look at the current NBA odds to see how things stand now, so let’s take a closer look at those odds.

Boston Celtics +260

Denver Nuggets +440

Milwaukee Bucks +550

LA Clippers +550

Boston Celtics

The Celtics ended the first half of the season by putting an exclamation point on things, pounding the Nets by 50 points on Wednesday night. That was enough to extend their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference to 6 games. The Celtics have now won 6 straight games and are at the point where they look as though they are an absolute lock to win the East. They are 43-12 overall, as well as being a spectacular 26-3 at home, which is bad news for any team that is going to face them in the postseason, knowing that Boston will have home court advantage. This team is a clear favorite to win it all.

Denver Nuggets

There are some teams, usually those that are on a hot streak, that don’t want the All-Star Break to come, but there are also a few that are ready for some time off. I would think that the Nuggets might be in that group, as they are currently on a 3-game losing skid, a run that has them 2 ½ games out of first in the Western Conference. Another concern for the Nuggets is that of the top 6 teams in the West, they have the 2nd worst conference record. Still, the champs are playoff proven, so don’t write them off.

Milwaukee Bucks

A lot of people looked at the Bucks as a potential champion heading into the season, but things are not going as planned. Milwaukee made a coaching change earlier in the year, but that has done little to turn their fortunes around. The Bucks are just 4-6 in their last 10 games and have dropped down to 3rd in the conference standing, 8 games back of the Celtics. The chances of them closing that gap seems slim to none right now, so the second half of the season will be all about getting better and trying to get back into the #2 seed. I’m not convinced they can even do that.

LA Clippers

There is a fantastic battle for top spot in the Western Conference, so the second half of the season is going to be fun to watch there. The Clippers are very much in the hunt, sitting 2 ½ games out of the lead after winning 7 of the last 10 games. They are also among the best in terms of their conference record, which is currently sitting at 22-13. The Clippers seem to be getting better with each passing week, so they might wee be one to keep an eye on if that trend continues.

2024 NBA Championship Odds Week 16

As we head toward the end of another week in the NBA regular season, it’s once again time to look at the current championship odds to get an idea for how the bookies think this season might go. 2024 NBA Finals Odds to Win MyBookie Sportsbook | Finals: June 2024 | Week 16 of the Season

For the most part, we have a definite favorite in the Eastern Conference, but not so much in the West, where things remain tight at the top of the standings. While things may seem clear now, history has shown us that the second half of the season can see the outlook change rather dramatically. Fortunes may well change after the All-Star break, but you can be sure that we will be keeping track of the NBA odds changes as they happen, so with that in mind, let’s look at the current favorites.

Boston Celtics +300

Denver Nuggets +425

Milwaukee Bucks +500

LA Clippers +600

Boston Celtics

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone to see that the Boston Celtics are still in as the favorite to win it all this year. They just continue to roll and maintain the best record in the league, with that record currently sitting at 39-12. Their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference is sitting at 5 games and you have to say that they don’t really look like relinquishing that anytime soon. Given that the Celtics are 24-3 at home, getting the #1 seed and home court advantage throughout the playoffs would put them very much in the driver’s seat.

Denver Nuggets

I have been saying for a few weeks now that I think the defending champions will eventually find their way to the top of the Western Conference. They are certainly taking a run at it and are now in a 3-way tie for the top spot. They have won 7 of their last 10, moving to 35-16 in the process, but if there is a concern with the Nuggets, it’s that they are off the pace in terms of conference wins, going 19-11 versus the West. This team is playoff proven, though, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much.

Milwaukee Bucks

If there is a more infuriating team that the Milwaukee Bucks this season, I don’t know who it would be. This is a team loaded with talent, yet they go through periods of struggling and looking disinterested. That said, there is a feeling that this team can move up the gears whenever they feel like it, and while that is nice to have in your back pocket, turning it off and on when it gets to the playoffs could mean an early demise. It will be interesting to see if they buckle down and go on a second half run.

LA Clippers

We have already spoken about just how tight things are at the top of the Western Conference, with 3 teams tied for the lead. The Clippers are just a half game behind that group of 3 and are very much on the rise, winning 8 of their last 10 games. If they can maintain that pace, there is a good chance that they could take the top spot before we get to the break. The Clippers are 21-12 against conference foes, which is among the best in the West, so they are deserving of being in this conversation.

2024 NBA Championship Odds Week 15

Every game is important in the quest for a playoff spot and an eventual championship run, but I think it’s fair to suggest that the importance of games becomes more apparent once we get beyond the All-Star Game. 2024 NBA Finals Odds to Win MyBookie Sportsbook | Finals: June 2024 | Week 15 of the Season

That game is now just a little over 2 weeks away, so we really are getting to the point of the season where the pressure begins to rise as teams jockey for those all-important postseason spots. It is going to be fun to see how things play out, and as the season progresses, the bookies continue to make changes to the NBA Championship odds. This week, it is the usual teams that we have seen on the bookies board for most of the season, but there is one team on the rise. Let’s take a closer look.

Boston Celtics +310

Denver Nuggets +440

Milwaukee Bucks +500

LA Clippers +700

Boston Celtics

At the turn of the year, the Celtics were the favorites at odds of +340, so as you can see, their odds are beginning to shorten. This is not that surprising when you consider that they have continued to truck along at a fast rate while the teams challenging them in the Eastern Conference are having some hiccups. The Celtics are sitting at 37-11 overall and have lost just 3 games on home court this season, which could serve them well if they do indeed end up as the #1 seed. They are also 25-6 in conference play, which makes you wonder who might be able to beat them in a playoff series.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets, who just happen to be the defending champions, are down in the #4 slot in the Western Conference, but they are also just a game and a half out of first, which tells you just how tight the battle for the #1 seed is in the West. Considering that they started the season slowly, the Nuggets are in good shape, sitting at 33-16 overall. They have won 7 of their last 10 and are a solid 19-4 in their own building. If there is a concern, it’s that their 17-11 conference record is not as good as the teams sitting ahead of them right now.

Milwaukee Bucks

For the majority of the season, the Bucks have looked like the team most likely to give the Boston Celtics a run for their money in the battle for the top seed in the East. The problem for Milwaukee is that they tend to fall into little slumps, just as they have at the moment with 2 straight losses. It was that inconsistency that led to a change at the head coaching spot a couple of weeks ago, but we have yet to see Doc Rivers make a huge change. It’s still early, though, and this team might well come good after the break, so these odds look like a bit of a bargain.

LA Clippers

As we mentioned at the top of this piece, we have a team on the rise in the eyes of the bookies. The Clippers have been hot over the last 10 games, winning 8, which is good enough to have them sitting in 3rd in the Western Conference, just 2 games out of the top spot. Their road play needs some work if they are to continue rising up the standings, but they have been good at home and are among the best in regards their conference record, which is at 21-11.

Updated 2024 NBA Championship Odds Eleven Weeks Right before the End of Regular Season

The midway point of the season has come and gone, and you have to say that very little has changed in terms of the teams considered the favorites to make a run at the NBA Championship. We are seeing some movement in the standings, as well as a coaching change with one of the top teams, which we will get into in a moment. While little has changed at the top of both conferences, we are seeing some movement in the odds to win it all this season, which is why we are keeping an eye on those subtle shifts. As we do every week, let’s take a closer look at the NBA Championship odds and who the bookies like to make a deep run this season.

Boston Celtics +360

Denver Nuggets +400

Milwaukee Bucks +450

LA Clippers +800

Boston Celtics

The Celtics are still at the top of the Eastern Conference and now have a 3-game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks. They are sitting at 34-10 overall and are on a run that has seen them win 7 of their last 10 games, which is basically the pace that they have been setting all season. On the downside, the Celtics finally lost a game in their own building, but they are still 20-1 at home and 23-6 in conference play, so it is easy to understand why they are the favorites to represent the East and potentially win it all in 2024.

Denver Nuggets

There is a great battle going on at the top of the standings in the Western Conference, with the top 3 teams all separated by a half game. The Nuggets are currently sitting in the #3 slot, but as I have said before, I believe it is only a matter of time before they move into the #1 spot. The defensing champions are 31-14 overall and are winners of 3 in a row, as well as in 7 of their last 10 games. Oddly enough, though, they do not have the best conference record, going 17-10 in those games, but they would still be tough to take out over the course of a series.

Milwaukee Bucks

You don’t often see a team as high in the standings as the Bucks are making a coaching change, but that is exactly what Milwaukee has done, firing Adrian Griffin and putting Doc Rivers in his place. Whether that move pays off remains to be seen, but you do have the sense that this team has not yet reached their full potential, hence the change. The Bucks are 31-13 overall, but the one thing that really jumps out is their conference record, which is currently 24-11, which is the best in the Eastern Conference. It will be interesting to see how this group reacts to Rivers as their head coach.

We already mentioned how tight things are at the top of the Western Conference, but the Clippers might be about to make it closer still. They have been hot of late, winning 8 of their last 10 games, moving to 28-14 in the process. That means they are now just 2 games out of the top spot. They are also one of only 2 teams to have surpassed the 20-win mark in conference play, along with the Minnesota Timberwolves, which bodes well for them in the postseason. I think we might see their odds get shorter in the coming weeks.

Updated 2023 NBA Championship Odds Right before the End of Regular Season

The NBA Play-In Tournament starts next week, which means we’re at the end of another fantastic NBA Regular Season. Heading into the Association’s postseason, the two favorites to win the NBA Finals are Eastern Conference teams Milwaukee and Boston. Did either make the list of teams to target to win rings? Check updated NBA Championship odds along with analysis and free picks.

NBA Title Picks Before the Play-In Tournament Starts

2023 Play-In Tournament: April 11-14, 2023
2023 Playoffs Start: Saturday, April 15, 2023
2023 NBA Finals: June 1 – June 18

Top Pick: Boston Celtics

NBA Championship Odds: Boston Celtics +330
Conference: Eastern Conference
Division: Atlantic Division

Last season’s Eastern Conference winners look very difficult to beat from a second straight trip to the NBA Finals. Boston has turned it on in recent weeks.

Heading into their April 4 game against Philadelphia, the Cs have won 5-of-6. Boston is playing like the team to beat.

Also, the Celtics have a few games left in which to wrest away home court from the Milwaukee Bucks. If that happens, Boston’s odds to win the title will significantly dive. So back them now if you agree that the Celtics get it done in June.

Second Pick: Milwaukee Bucks

NBA Championship Odds: Milwaukee Bucks +275
Conference: Eastern Conference
Division: Central Division

If the favored Bucks were to win the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee would be incredibly difficult to beat in the NBA Championship Series.

However, the Bucks could struggle to make it to the Finals. On paper, few teams have the depth that Milwaukee possesses. Players like Bobby Portis, Joe Ingles, and Jae Crowder play for Milwaukee off the bench.

Grayson Allen has blossomed as a starter, averaging over 10 points, 3.3 boards, and 2.3 assists per game. He’s a nice compliment to point guard Jrue Holiday.

The problem is health. Khris Middleton and Grayson Allen are out. We saw what happened to the Bucks last season when Middleton got injured. Relegating the chalk to second choice makes sense.

NBA Top Pick: Bucks | Bet Milwaukee Bucks to Win Today

Third Pick: Denver Nuggets

NBA Championship Odds: Denver Nuggets +720
Conference: Western Conference
Division: Northwest Division

In the last head-to-head versus the Milwaukee Bucks, the Denver Nuggets blasted Giannis Antetokounmpo and his mates 129-106.

Led by Nikola Jokic, who could very well win another MVP, the Nuggets are almost assured the Western Conference’s top spot. The issue for Denver is the same for Milwaukee.

Jokic is suffering from a calf injury. Denver may shut down their big man star until the playoffs. If Jokic is healthy, Denver will have a chance. But the Nuggets could struggle once, they make it to the NBA Finals and end up facing off against the Bucks or Celtics.

Top Underdog Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers

NBA Championship Odds: Cleveland Cavaliers +3400
Conference: Eastern Conference
Division: Central Division

There are a lot of reasons to like the Cleveland Cavaliers to upset the favorites and win the NBA Finals. The first has to do with their odds.

At 34-to-1, the Cavs are a massive overlay. Cleveland sends the top backcourt in the league, Darius Garland and the brilliant Donovan Mitchell, to the floor.

Also, Cleveland’s defense allows 107 points per, ranking first in the league. When was the last time NBA handicappers could back the Association’s top defense at 34-to-1 to win the title? Cavs have a much better chance of wearing rings than the odds imply.
