On April 9, the Warriors lost 110-107 at home to Washington. NBA scoring leader Bradley Beal didn’t have a great game overall but scored six points in the final 6.1 seconds. Russell Westbrook had 19 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds, and Rui Hachimura added 22 points and five rebounds for the Wizards. Stephen Curry missed a 28-footer as time ran out. Curry had 32 points, five assists and six rebounds. Golden State has won its past three at Washington, however.

Why Bet on Golden State? | 2021 NBA Expert Analysis

Steph Curry took over the NBA scoring lead at 31.4 points per game with a magnificent 49-point effort in Monday’s 107-96 upset in Philadelphia. Curry is on a historic run, becoming the first player in NBA history to hit at least 50 3-pointers over a six-game span and he’s scored at least 20 points in seven of his last nine halves played.

Curry is averaging just over 40 points this month and it was his fifth 40-point game in April. That shot Curry past Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan for most 40-point games in a month by a player age-33 or older. Curry has 11 straight 30-point games, the longest streak by a player at age 33 or older in NBA history, surpassing Bryant. It is also the longest 30-point game streak by a Warriors player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964. Curry’s recent play has helped the Warriors post their best stretch of the season, having won five of their past six games.

“I’ve seen Kobe Bryant early in his career, had a stretch where he went nuts,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “Obviously, Michael Jordan had some stretches where he just scored like crazy, but obviously nobody’s ever shot the ball like this in the history of the game. Even by Steph’s own lofty standards, this is above and beyond.”

Kelly Oubre returned from a five-game absence Monday from a wrist injury and came off the bench to hit 2-of-6 shots for nine points and two rebounds. Kevon Looney grabbed a game-high and career-high 15 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds. For the season, Wiggins is enjoying a career year shooting both from the field (47.7 percent) and from distance (38.9 percent).

Wednesday concludes the Warriors’ five-game road trip, longest of the season. The Wizards are looking for their first regular season sweep (2-0) since 2009-10. This is the Warriors’ last game against an Eastern Conference opponent this season. The Wizards are looking to become the fourth Eastern Conference team to sweep (2-0) the Warriors this season, joining the Nets, Celtics and Hawks.

On this current road trip, the Warriors (3-1) have outscored (121.8 to 106.3 points per game) and outshot from the field (.507 to .444 FG%) their opponents.

Why Bet on Washington? | 2021 NBA Expert Analysis

The Wizards tied their longest winning streak of the season at five in a row with Monday’s 119-107 win over terrible and thinned-out Oklahoma City.  Russell Westbrook had 13 points, 17 assists and 11 rebounds for Washington.

His 26th triple-double this season was only in doubt because of his poor shooting; Westbrook missed nine straight shots in the second half before a 3-pointer that gave the Wizards a nine-point lead with 3:47 left. He has 172 triple-doubles, closing in on Oscar Robertson’s record of 181. Westbrook became the first player in NBA history with multiple triple-doubles against all 30 franchises.

Former NBA scoring leader Bradley Beal had 30 points as he extended his scoring streak of games with at least 30 points to five contests.  Davis Bertans returned on Monday with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting with all of his attempts from deep. Bertans missed two games due to the birth of his son, prior to which he’d been heating up with 3.8 triples on 50.0% shooting from deep in April. Of his 59 shot attempts this month, only one of them has been inside the arc.

Good-looking young player Rui Hachimura did not practice Tuesday and won’t play Wednesday against the Warriors. He also missed Monday’s game with knee soreness. Davis Bertans and Isaac Bonga should continue to see increased minutes with Hachimura out.

The Wizards are in the thick of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference as they sit in a tie for the No. 10 seed with the Chicago Bulls for what would be the last spot in the league’s postseason play-in tournament May 18-21.

Wednesday will be the first game this season the Wizards will allow fans at home, albeit a limited amount at Capital One Arena.

“The mayor and our organization, they picked a great day to have fans,” Washington coach Scott Brooks said. “One of the most exciting players in the history of our game (Steph Curry) is coming to our building.”
