NBA Preseason Top Value Games

NBA Preseason Top Value Games

Written by on October 4, 2021

It’s preseason week in the National Basketball Association. Betting NBA preseason games isn’t the same as betting NFL preseason contests. Only 12 players throw down for NBA teams, which is why it’s easier to handicap NBA preseason matchups. Check out a team in a preseason hoops tilt from Tuesday to Sunday that should offer value odds.

NBA Preseason Top Value Games

When: Tuesday, Oct. 5 – Sunday, Oct. 10

Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis Grizzlies

When: Tuesday, Oct. 5

Most NBA teams play their starters in preseason games because they wish to ready them for the regular season. The Bucks are no different. Knowing this, oddsmakers will overvalue Milwaukee even though Giannis may or may not take the court.

The best player in the league is working through a knee injury. With Giannis on the bench, Memphis should easily handle whatever spread they face.

NBA Preseason Pick:
Memphis Grizzlies

Los Angeles Lakers at Phoenix Suns

When: Wednesday, Oct. 6

Both teams have a loaded bench, which means oddsmakers and NBA handicappers figure to favor the Lakers. Los Angeles’ bench players, guys like Carmelo Anthony and Rajon Rondo, are well north of thirty-years-old.

Phoenix’s bench players are much younger and will got a lot of run in this. No matter the spread line, the Suns cover.

NBA Preseason Pick:
Phoenix Suns

Toronto Raptors at Philadelphia 76ers

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

The Sixers and Raptors throw down on Monday. Check out the final score of that game before jumping on either team. Without knowing who won the game, our initial thoughts are the Sixers get the benefit of the doubt and show up a -2 to -3 chalk.
We should see value fall to the Raptors. Philadelphia decided not to pay Ben Simmons. The two sides are having major problems. Raptors cover.

NBA Preseason Pick:
Toronto Raptors

Miami Heat at San Antonio Spurs

When: Friday, Oct. 8

The Miami Heat should have a bounce back season, but they’re not as deep as Pat Riley would like them to be.

Because of that, coach Erik Spoelstra is likely to rest most of his starters. NBA stars play their way into shape, but Spoelstra can’t take the chance of Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry, or Jimmy Butler getting hurt.

The Spurs aren’t a great team. But they’ll cover the spread.

NBA Preseason Pick:
San Antonio Spurs

New York Knicks at Washington Wizards

When: Saturday, Oct. 9

Some NBA handicappers are going to overplay the New York Knicks. On paper, the Knicks are the much better team. But the Wizards aren’t without some talent.

Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma could end up one of this season’s top forward-guard combinations. Spencer Dinwiddie, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Montrezl Harrell are also good players. Wizards cover this preseason contest.

NBA Preseason Pick:
Washington Wizards

Oklahoma City Thunder at Milwaukee Bucks

When: Sunday, Oct. 10

Even if the Bucks sit every starter, the defending champs cover this preseason battle. Oklahoma City has a great player in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but the rest of the players are unproven and inexperienced.

No matter what it is, Milwaukee could play their entire second starting five and cover the spread. Also, Sunday’s matchup is 9 days before the regular season starts. Unless the knee is still an issue, Giannis should play around 15 minutes. That will be enough.

NBA Preseason Pick:
Milwaukee Bucks
