On Jan. 8, Texas Tech beat visiting Kansas 75-67 when the Red Raiders were No. 25 and the Jayhawks No. 6. Bryson Williams scored 22 points, and Clarence Nadolny had a career-high 17 to lead TTU. The Red Raider never trailed in the second half. Ochai Agbaji’s 3-pointer with 1:12 left cut the Kansas deficit to four points, but Williams made two free throws and the Jayhawks didn’t score again. TTU was without two of its best players in Terrence Shannon and Kevin McCullar. Agbaji finished with 24 points to lead KU.

The Red Raiders are 13th in the nation with teams only shooting 37.8 percent and 11th by limiting opponents to just 59.1 points per game with only two opponents scoring over 70 all season. Tech leads the Big 12 by limiting opponents to only 37.8 percent shooting with WVU shooting just 40.4 percent. The Red Raiders are 12th nationally with a 14.8 scoring margin after the 13-point win over WVU and are fourth in the Big 12 by shooting 47.0 percent offensively.

Tech is currently 4-2 against teams who were ranked at the time of play with wins over No. 1 Baylor, No. 6 Kansas, No. 13 Tennessee and No. 15 Iowa State. The losses came to Gonzaga in the Jerry Colangelo Classic on Dec. 18 in Arizona and in the Big 12 opener against Iowa State on Jan. 5 in Ames, Iowa.
