There really is no such thing as job security in the NFL, as players and coaches can be cut and fired as a team sees fit. In coaching, a successful season only buys you so much time, as football is a business that is all about what you have done for me lately. Every season, we head into a new year with a handful of coaches in the hot seat, while others get added as the season progresses. Being in the hot seat and getting off to a slow start is a recipe for disaster, and there are already a few coaches who must now be waiting for that call to the front office. Let’s look at a few that are on thin ice after Week 3 of the season so you can keep on betting against their NFL odds.

Dan Quinn – Atlanta Falcons

Quinn will forever be remembered as the coach who watched his team let a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl slip away in route to a stunning loss. Since then, things have gone from bad and to worse, with the Falcons missing the playoffs in back to back seasons after their Super Bowl appearance. Many fans and pundits thought that Quinn would be let go at the end of last season, but he was given one more chance, which has been a disaster to this point. The Falcons are 0-3 and have gassed double digit leads in each of the last 2 weeks. Do not be surprised if Quinn is out by the time you read this.

Adam Gase – New York Jets

Gase made it to the ranks of head coach based on his performance as an offensive co-ordinator with the Denver Broncos when they won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. The warning signs were there, though, in his time as a head coach with the Miami Dolphins, which lasted 3 seasons. The offense in Miami got progressively worse with Gase in charge and he is now following a similar pattern with the Jets. He has somehow made LeVeon Bell look like a very ordinary running back, while also seeing QB Sam Darnold lose any confidence that he may have had.

Matt Patricia – Detroit Lions

Word last season was that Patricia was on the outs as the head coach of the Detroit Lions, mostly because his team seemed totally incapable of holding a lead in the 4^th quarter. Losing starting QB Matt Stafford for the second half of last season might just have saved his skin, as the Lions were never going to win without their best player under center. This season, it has been more of the same for the Lions, blowing leads in the opening 2 weeks. They did get a win in Week 3, so Patricia may be safe for one more week, but it still looks as though he is living on borrowed time.

Mike Zimmer – Minnesota Vikings

A team that was considered one of the best in the NFC for the past few seasons has slowly bit surely seen their window of opportunity close. Kirk Cousins is getting a ton of heat in Minnesota in the early part of the season, but there is a lot of blame to go around when looking at their 0-3 start. For his part, Zimmer looks disinterested in post-game press conferences, almost as though he is aware that his time is about to come to an end.
