WFT vs New England Patriots – NFL Preseason Game Betting Analysis

Why bet on Washington against New England

Although Ryan Fitzpatrick is listed first on the depth chart, head coach Ron Rivera has yet to decide if he’s going with Fitz or if he’s going with the WFT’s playoff starter in the wildcard loss to Tampa Bay, Taylor Heinicke. The second-stringer played well in the game versus the Bucs. Fitzpatrick has a gun for an arm, though. Playing either Fitzpatrick or Heinicke should give the Commanders an edge.

Why bet on New England against Washington

Like the Washington Football Team, a quarterback battle has brewed at Patriot camp. Cam Newton believes he can still lead a team to the playoffs. By all accounts, Alabama rookie Mac Jones is tearing it up. Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniel can’t take their time deciding on which quarterback will lead their team in Week 1. New England coaches must play both in preseason games. There’s a good chance Jones and Newton play behind New England’s first team offensive line, making the Patriots a decent play.

Final Betting Analysis: Washington Football Team at New England Patriots

One thing the New England Patriots don’t have that the Washington Football Team does is a top five defensive unit.

No matter who starts on offense, the Washington Football Team can control this game on the defensive side of the ball. Ron Rivera is a defensive mastermind. He built winning teams at Carolina based on the D.

Rivera could sit his entire starting defensive line and the WFT should have success against either Newton or Jones. Not only that, but the WFT D-line is so talented, and so deep, that McDaniel may send in his second unit offensive line, so he can save his first team O-line, when either Newton or Jones is in the game.

Doing so takes away any supposed quarterback advantage the Patriots might have. Although a preseason game, the odds on Washington are more than fair. Expect the WFT to cover the -2 spread.
