NFL Week 1: Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Why bet on Dallas versus Tampa Bay?

For Dak Prescott, all systems appear on go. The second-highest paid quarterback in the NFL suffered a season ending injury in 2020. Before the injury, Prescott was on pace for 5,939 passing yards and close to 29 TD passes. He was also on pace for close to 10 rushing touchdowns. Dallas also used their first six picks on defensive players, which should help them stop Tom Brady and the Bucs’ offense.

Dallas Cowboys 2020 Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 371.8
  • Passing Yards: 260.1
  • Rushing Yards: 111.8

  • Turnovers: 26

Dallas Cowboys 2020 Defensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 386.4

Why bet on Tampa Bay versus Dallas?

The Buccaneers averaged over 30 points per game last season. This season, the offense could be even more effective because Tom Brady has had an entire offseason to work with former All-Pro Antonio Brown. Also, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are legit WR1s, the Buc’s offense goes two-deep at the tight-end position with Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard, and the defense ranked first against the run in 2020.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2020 Offensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 384.1
  • Passing Yards: 289.1
  • Rushing Yards: 94.9
  • Points Scored: 30.8
  • Turnovers: 17

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2020 Defensive Averages

  • Total Yards: 327.1
  • Passing Yards: 246.6
  • Rushing Yards: 80.6
  • Points Scored: 22.2
  • Takeaways: 25

Dallas versus Tampa Bay Final Betting Prediction

Dallas has fallen to a +2200 middle of the road choice to win Super Bowl 56. The odds make the Cowboys an underlay to take the title because even though on paper the defense looks better, we won’t know for sure if it is until Micah Parsons and his mates step onto the field.

We also don’t know if Dak is back one-hundred percent from the injury. Even if the old Prescott shows up, we mustn’t forget that, yes, Dak was on pace for over 5,900 passing yards. He was also on pace for close to 13 picks. So it’s not like Prescott made no mistakes last season.

The Buccaneers’ defense shut down Patrick Mahomes and his receivers to win Super Bowl 55. Dallas’ quarterback heads into this having not played a snap in close to 11 months, and the jury is out on the Cowboys’ defense.

Eight points is a lot to give up in an NFL game. But it’s not too much when you have the defending Super Bowl Champions at home versus a Dallas team with a lot of questions to answer. Tampa covers.
