Latest Injury Report That Could Affect Your Super Bowl 58 Bets

There are many different factors that go into determining the outcome of a game, not all of which are confined to what happens on the field. MyBookie Sportsbook | Injuries that Will Affect Your Super Bowl Bets

There are always factors that are out of the control of the teams involved, with injuries sitting at the top of the pile. The harsh reality is that football is an intensely physical sport and injuries are just part and parcel of the business of the gridiron. When you reach this stage of the season, the two teams that are still standing have players that are just no going to be available through injury, but getting to this point means that both teams also have depth and guys that can step in and do the job when starters go down. With that in mind, let’s look at the Chiefs and 49ers to see what their injury room looks like.

Kansas City Chiefs Injuries

As it stands at the moment, the Chiefs have 9 players listed on the injury report, although most of them were listed as being in full practice, so there is every chance they will be available to play on Sunday. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that teams tend to be a little tight-lipped on injuries during the playoffs, so knowing the severity of each issue can be tough to figure out. Let’s look at what we do know ahead of the big game.

Joe Thuney

The offensive guard tore a pectoral muscle that kept him out of the AFC Championship Game, and he has not practiced since. All signs point to him missing out on the Super Bowl. If he cannot go, which certainly looks to be the case, his spot will be filled by Nick Allegretti.

Charles Omenihu

It was a huge season for the edge rusher, who contributed 7 sacks on the year. He tore his ACL in the win over the Baltimore Ravens and will not be available for the big game. The good news is that the Chiefs are deep at this position, and while Omenihu is a loss, KC appears to be covered there.

San Francisco 49ers Injuries

It’s all positive news for the 49ers, as they appear to have a full squad ready to roll. That said, there are still a couple of injury concerns, although not any that could be considered seriously problematic. Let’s take a quick peek at those minor issues.

George Kittle

The 49ers tight end has played a massive role in getting his team to the Super Bowl, and while he is a little banged up, he will be playing this weekend. That has to be seen as very positive news for 49ers fans.

Ambry Thomas

This is an injury that could prove to be worrisome if Thomas was unable to go. The cornerback has been a staple in the 49ers secondary, and if he were unable to play, it might open up the deep ball for the Chiefs. All signs point to Thomas being healthy enough to play, though.

So, there you have it. Not too much to report in terms of injuries, which is good news for those of us looking for a great game with all the best players on the field at Super Bowl 58.

Super Bowl 57 Injuries

Injuries That Will Affect Your Super Bowl Bets

At this stage of the season, just a week before the Super Bowl, you can almost guarantee that every player involved is likely playing with some level of pain or discomfort. Professional athletes have a way of battling through that pain to get to work, but there are times when they simply cannot go, even in a game that is for all the marbles. The question here is how the injury reports affect your wagering on the Super Bowl.

There are a number of ways you can process the information, all of which can be difficult when you consider that teams tend to give out very much in the way of detailed injury reports in the days leading up to the big game. If you are a bettor that relies heavily on the news about injuries, you might well be forced to wait until the very last minute to get your bets on. Another thing to consider is the importance of the player to the team and how good their replacement is, but even then, it all adds to the risk of making a wager. Look at the last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl. When Carson Wentz went down late in the season, we all thought the Eagles run was over, but Nick Foles came in and played out of his mind. Same story with the 49ers this season and their QB woes.

How do the Chiefs and Eagles Look Ahead of Super Bowl 57?

If you were handicapping based on injuries alone, then you would probably be putting all your money on the Philadelphia Eagles. They are about as healthy as you can be at this stage of the season, with no key personnel set miss the big game. The same cannot be said for the Kansas City Chiefs, who have a number of big names listed as questionable or out.

The biggest concern for the Chiefs is the health of Patrick Mahomes, who is dealing with an ankle injury. He played through the pain in the AFC Championship Game and the extra week off ahead of the Super Bowl will have helped him get better, but by how much. He is not the only issue, though, as the Chiefs have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Justin Watson, and a few others all listed as questionable.

What Do You Do With the Injury Report?

You can guarantee that every player listed as questionable will make every effort to be out on the field in some capacity. After all, they will have the entire offseason to recuperate, so playing through the pain is an option most will choose.

For me, I tend to play the waiting game, especially ahead of the Super Bowl when there is more time to get healthy, as the status of individual players can change rather quickly. That may mean waiting until as late as possible to wager, but if your bets are dependent on the health of a couple of key players, the it is best to wait it out and see if they will be ready to go.
