Updated Stanley Cup Odds After Week 11

Updated Stanley Cup Odds After Week 11

Written by on December 26, 2022

The NHL is finishing the league’s holiday break and will be in full swing on December 27th. Before the league returns and continues with the rest of the season, let’s see who are the favorites, long shots, and the smart picks to win the Stanley Cup after week 11 in the NHL.

Favorites

Boston Bruins (+570)

The Boston Bruins are still the number one ranked team in the NHL with a 27-4-6 record, having won the last four games in a row. The Bruins’ have maintained the top spot in the league since the start of the season and have kept that pace up and are currently the favorite to win the 2022-23 President’s Trophy and Stanley Cup.

Although, the President’s Trophy has been more of a curse than a predictor for the Stanley Cup champion.

Carolina Hurricanes (+930)

As the New Jersey Devils have slowed down, the Carolina Hurricanes have maintained a consistent level of play and are riding an eight-game winning streak. The Hurricanes now sit atop the Metropolitan Division (22-6-6), second in the NHL, and are slowly seeing their odds of winning the Stanley Cup increase.

Carolina was a preseason Stanley Cup favorite and has recently been playing to those expectations behind Pyotr Kochtekov’s excellent goaltending.

Colorado Avalanche (+590)

It’s difficult to decide if the Avalanche is a favorite or a smart pick based on the odds, record, and injuries.

We’ll keep the Colorado Avalanche as a favorite because of their odds of winning the Stanley Cup and their performance despite their impact-player-filled injury report.

The Avalanche (19-11-2) have won the last four games and are starting to get healthy. Considering the Avs have maintained a winning record with injuries to Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog, the Avs should remain a favorite to win the Stanley Cup.

Smart Picks

Tampa Bay Lightning (+1325)

The Tampa Bay Lightning have a 20-11-1 record, have lost two games in a row, and have almost three times longer odds to win the Stanley Cup than the Colorado Avalanche.

Yes, the Lightning are in the ultra-competitive Atlantic Division and will have to go through Boston and Toronto to get to the Eastern Conference championship. However, if there is a team that you should have faith in to emerge from the Atlantic and potentially win the Stanley Cup, it should be the three-time consecutive Eastern Conference champions.

Toronto Maple Leafs (+810)

While the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner’s hot streaks have ended, the Maple Leafs are still playing excellent hockey with a 21-7-6 record, ranking Toronto fourth overall in the NHL. The Maple Leafs have the most difficult road to travel to win the Stanley Cup, but they have the offense and goaltending tandem to make that happen.

If you think the Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup, you might want to take the Maple Leafs sooner than later, as more money will come in on Toronto to win the Stanley Cup as the end of the season approaches.

Vegas Golden Knights (+730)

The Vegas Golden Knights are ranked third in the NHL, atop the Pacific division standings with a 24-11-1 record. Vegas will win the Pacific division giving the Golden Knights the easiest route to the conference and Stanley Cup finals of all the teams listed, and they have to be among the smart picks to win the Stanley Cup in 2022-23.

Long Shots

Winnipeg Jets (+2200)

The Winnipeg Jets are getting no respect from sports bettors, as their odds get longer as the season rolls on. The Jets lost the last two games before the holiday break but entered the break with a 21-12-1 record, ranked second in the Central division.

The Jets and Connor Hellbuyck could be incredible value at +2200 if they shock the world and get our attention by winning the Stanley Cup.

New York Rangers (+1700)

The New York Rangers have won eight of their last nine games, improving to 19-11-5 and third in the Metropolitan division behind Carolina and New Jersey. The Rangers were preseason betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup and have slowly worked into form with Igor Shesterkin (17-5-4, 2.44 GAA, .916 SV%) carrying the workload.

If the Rangers stay in third or rise in the Metropolitan standings, the Rangers’ Stanley Cup betting line will change, and you may regret not taking the preseason favorite Rangers at +1700 to win the Stanley Cup in June.
