Updated NHL Stanley Cup & Conference Championship Odds

We are now well into the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, which means we now have a good idea of how each of the 4 series in this round are likely to play out. The bookies have adjusted the existing NHL & Stanley Cup odds for each of the 8 remaining teams, and your window of opportunity to get the team you like at the best possible price is beginning to close. Let’s take a closer look at each of the remaining teams, as well as their current odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Pittsburgh Penguins (+180)

The defending Stanley Cup champions are rolling, and are now deservedly in the favorite position. They blasted their way past the Columbus Blue Jackets in the opening round, and now have a 2-0 series lead over the Washington Capitals, with both of those wins coming on the road. The odds on the Penguins are going to continue to drop, so now may be the time to get in on the action of you believe they can repeat.

Edmonton Oilers (+300)

The Oilers have made their lack of playoff experience look totally unimportant so far. The took care of the San Jose Sharks in the opening round, and now have a 2-1 series lead over the Anaheim Ducks in the second round. They got the opening two wins of this series on the road, but missed the chance to push the Ducks to the brink in Game 3. Should still be the favorite to move on.

Nashville Predators (+400)

You would not expect to see a #8 seed in this position, but the Predators have earned these odds. They swept the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round, and are now in possession of a 2-1 series lead over the St. Louis Blues, with Game 4 set to be played in their own building, where they have yet to lose this postseason.

Ottawa Senators (+500)

This is a team that has been winning by the skin of their teeth, with each of their postseason games decided by a single goal, including 5 in OT. That they ousted the Boston Bruins and now have a 2-0 series lead over the New York Rangers tells you that this team continually finds a way to win.

Anaheim Ducks (+750)

If any of the teams who are currently behind in their second-round series can pull off a comeback, it would be the Ducks. They showed some real grit to bounce back from a 2-0 series deficit by getting a big 6-3 win on the road in Edmonton. Their extensive playoff experience might come into play here.

Washington Capitals (+800)

The Capitals have seen their stock drop dramatically this postseason, but is anyone really surprised? This is a team that has never translated to regular season dominance to postseason success, so seeing them struggle is not a huge shock.

St. Louis Blues (+1100)

The Blues had a comfortable opening round series win over the Minnesota Wild, but have run into a bit of a wall versus the Nashville Predators in the second round. They are 2-1 down, but more importantly, have lost home ice advantage.

New York Rangers (+1100) 

A good win for the Rangers against the Montreal Canadiens in the opening round, but down 2-0 versus Ottawa in Round 2, they look to be in trouble.
