We head into the last week of the Olympics, trying to battle not only the competition but also the weather. Some heavy snow caused delays on Sunday/Monday and has caused the nordic combined, biathlon, and slopestyle, and aerials in freestyle skiing to be rescheduled. 

The team sports, specifically hockey, are really starting to get into the nitty-gritty, and they’ll be one of the major focuses of these last final days.

Winter Olympics Betting Rundown for Monday, February 15th

What Has Already Happened

You don’t see a lot of free agency/trades in the Olympics, but that’s kind of what happened with American Kaillie Humphries, who used to compete for Canada but now goes for the States after marrying a U.S. citizen. The stars and stripes are glad to have her as she brought home the gold in the inaugural women’s monobob event. It was her third medal overall. 

Winning the women’s monobob snapped an 0-6 start in sliding events, and American Elena Meyers-Taylor also took silver in that competition. 

France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron put behind them some frustrations of narrowly missing out on gold in ice dancing in Pyeongchang and did it in a big way. The duo broke their own ice dance world record with a near-perfect run of 136.15 points. Americans Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue took bronze, competing in their final Olympic games. 

Xu Mengtao of China instantly knew she had won gold in women’s aerials on a cold and snowy night. Xu tallied a 108.61 as her winning jump featured three somersaults, just edging out defending champion Hannah Huskova, while American Megan Nick took a surprise bronze. 

Austria edged out Slovenia in the men’s team jump skiing to round out some of the major medals awarded in day 10.

Monday’s Competition Rundown

Canada and China square off in a couple of different events on the ice Monday night. First, off the Canadian men’s try to inch closer to match their women’s team (who has made Wednesday’s gold medal game) as -5 goal favorites in an event that takes place on Tuesday morning. 

The two countries also meet in men’s curling on Monday night, where Canada is expected to breeze to victory as -635 favorites. 

The USA is in action in men’s curling as well, in a tough matchup as +106 underdogs against Switzerland (-137). Norway (-137) vs. Russia should also be a good matchup, but Sweden (-1430) vs. Denmark is a formality at this point. 

Men’s and women’s medals in big air snowboarding are handed out on Monday night in what should be a premiere event on NBC. Norway’s Marcus Kleveland is the +320 favorite on the men’s side. Chris Coming (+500) and Red Gerard (+850) are the U.S representatives in the event. 

Despite the delays for the outdoor events, there will also be medals given out in men’s and women’s team pursuit in speed skating and the men’s two-person bobsleigh. 

Norway has jumped to the lead with nine gold medals and will likely add to that total, at least in the men’s big air competition. Germany with eight and USA with seven gold medals are right in the discussion of countries having the best Olympics as well.
