NFL Playoffs Odds & Betting Predictions: Loser Picks for the Wild Card Games

Written by on January 10, 2023

The NFL Super Wild Card Weekend will take place this coming Saturday through Monday, signaling the start of the NFL playoffs. There are a number of intriguing first-round matchups, and from a betting standpoint, there are some excellent chances to profit. Here is all the information you need on the NFL Playoffs Lines for this Wild Card Weekend and which teams to avoid.

Who Are the Sure Losers in Wild Card Round of NFL Action?

Los Angeles Chargers (-1) vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Los Angeles Chargers (10-7) have opened as favorites on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8). There is no doubt the Chargers have a young and up-and-coming team. However, Head Coach Brandon Staley can’t help but get in his own way. Are the Chargers cursed?

Los Angeles played their entire starting lineup in a pointless game and were defeated by the 4-12 Denver Broncos. Additionally, star players Joey Bosa and Mike Williams both exited the contest with injuries.

Doug Pederson, the Head Coach of the Jaguars, has this team clicking on all cylinders right now. After back-to-back seasons as the worst team in the NFL, the Jaguars rattled off five straight wins to take the AFC South. Jacksonville destroyed the Chargers earlier this year 38-10, and the Jaguars are playing even better down the stretch. Expect Jacksonville to hand the Chargers a loss in this one.

Seattle Seahawks (+10) vs San Francisco 49ers

Lock in the Seattle Seahawks (9-8) as sure losers for their Wild Card matchup. We’re not sure Seattle has a chance in this matchup; not only did they barely limp into the playoffs, but the 49ers swept the Seahawks in the regular season out, scoring them by 28 points combined. Seattle has struggled mightily as of late, failing to cover seven of their last eight games, including almost losing to the 5-12 Rams in the regular season finale.

While San Francisco will have to wiggle their way through the playoffs with a rookie quarterback under center, the 49ers run has nevertheless been impressive. Brock Purdy finished the year with 11 touchdowns and only two interceptions over his final five games, while the 49ers finished the season on a ten-game winning streak. With an endless set of weapons at Kyle Shanahan’s disposal, expect the 49ers to send Seattle home as losers in the Wild Card round.

Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills

This should be an obvious choice as the Miami Dolphins (9-8) make the list this week as they square off against the Buffalo Bills (13-3) in the first round of the AFC playoffs. The Dolphins edged the Jets 11-6 on Sunday to advance to the postseason by just about the smallest margin possible. Although first-year Head Coach Mike McDaniel is an offensive guru, he’ll have to navigate an offense with their third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Miami will have a tough time defending this motivated Buffalo Bills offense that averages a second-best 397.6 yards and 28.4 points per game. To make matters worse, they also have a stiff defense (17.4ppg) and will have the support of Bills Mafia at home, where they are 7-1.

The fact of the matter is the Miami offense isn’t the same without Tua Tagovailoa, and they will face a ginormous uphill battle when they head to Highmark Stadium to take on one of the best teams in the NFL. Miami finished the year losing five of their last six, and chalk up another loss in the wildcard round as they should walk away, sure losers.
