French Open Betting Analysis: Must Bet Top 3 Favorites to Win

French Open Betting Analysis: Must Bet Top 3 Favorites to Win

We are just under 2 weeks away from the start of the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, with the French Open set to commence on May 22. Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open back in January and will almost certainly be one of the favorites for this event, but he will have some stiff competition along the way. Making a definite pick right now is not as easy as you might think, especially since we don’t know what the bracket looks like, and we are not yet entirely sure who is in and who is missing the tournament, which we will get into in a moment. What we can do is come up with 3 players who should be in the hunt to win the 2023 French Open. Let’s see the tennis betting analysis for the upcoming tournament:

When: May 28 – Jun 11, 2023

Novak Djokovic

The obvious favorite to win the French Open is Djokovic, and not just because he has already won a major this year. Djokovic is about as close to invincible as it gets on clay courts, which is why he has already won the French Open 10 times in his career. He is the defending champion and has won 4 of the last 5 times at Roland Garros, so he is certainly going to be very tough to beat again this time around. The early odds have him in as second favorite, so you may want to jump on that now if you do like him to win.

Carlos Alcaraz

One of the things to look at when deciding who to wager on in any tournament is the surface on which the games are being played. Most players have a preferred surface, and you have to say that Alcaraz is at his best on clay, which could play right into his hands here. There are some concerns about lingering injuries that might well make some bettors nervous, but if he comes into the tournament with a clean bill of health, you have to like him to make a deep run, just as he has done in other clay events this season.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

There are definite reasons to wager on Tsitsipas, most notably how good he is on clay, but there are also some concerns. He has had a bit of an up and down season as he continues to deal with a shoulder injury. He did say earlier this year that he is somewhat saving himself and trying to get in perfect shape for the French Open. He made it all the way to the final in this tournament last season before losing to Djokovic, so there is certainly an expectation that he will be in the mix again this year.

If I had to pick one of the potential favorites that really concerns me, it would need to be Rafael Nadal. He has won this tournament in the past and often saves his best work for clay courts, but injuries have plagued him throughout his entire career. He is having issues again, and while there has been no official word either way about him playing at Roland Garros, if he does take part, it will be his first tournament of the year, which is certainly not ideal.

I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?
