Nigma Galaxy Vs Team Tickles
- When: Saturday, December 4 – 15:00 CET
Team Tickles is a roster that previously represented Vikin.gg, but decided to leave the organization on July 15 and have since come together as an independent stack. While under Viking.gg, Team Tickles’ core has produced reasonable success; however, they haven’t achieved much in the upper echelons of the competitive Dota 2.
Most notably, Vikin.gg crashed out of The International 10 Western Europe qualifiers in July when they lost to Chicken Fighters and placed ninth-12th. The disappointing run eventually led to the team’s disbandment, while the former players continued playing in separate teams.
This match will mark former Vikin.gg’s core first time playing together in over three months, which is far from ideal. And it doesn’t help that they’re set to face one of Europe’s top teams.
Nigma Galaxy’s roster, mostly known for their time at Team Liquid in 2019, is easily a top-four team in the region, and their results from 2021 would confirm that. Nigma have consistently finished in the top-three at almost every high-profile tournament they’ve attended. Still, they fell off towards the end of the season, eventually failing to qualify for TI10.
The team finished third in TI10 qualifiers, where they lost to OG (1-2), who would go on to qualify for the tournament. Although a disappointing finish to the season, Nigma still deserve respect and are nothing less than one of the top favorites to win DreamLeague Season 16.
Games that take place after a long break are usually very messy and often result in upsets. However, the quality difference between these two rosters makes it hard to side with Team Tickles, even with a map handicap.
Prediction: Nigma Galaxy -1.5 maps
Team Secret Vs Alliance
- When: Saturday, December 4 – 18:00 CET
Alliance and Team Secret are the two most recognizable names in the European Dota 2 scene, and rightfully so. Both have been highly successful throughout their, and they both have plenty of accolades to show for.
Unlike Secret, Alliance won The International, albeit way back in 2013. And while Alliance has emerged as the top-rated European team in the 2021 season, they were not nearly as impressive as Secret on the big stage.
At The International 10, Alliance could only manage a ninth-12th place finish, whereas Team Secret placed third. That might not mean much considering both teams have freshened up their rosters since then, but looking at the roster changes’ quality, Secret continues to look stronger.
Secret, who was a highly stacked team even last year, has now added Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang and Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan to form what seems to be one of the strongest Dota 2 rosters in the world.
Alliance, meanwhile, were more rebuilding what they’ve lost this offseason rather than forming a new championship roster, adding Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha, Rodrigo “Leslão” Santos, and Adam “Aramis” Moroz. Admittedly, those are good players, but they can’t compare to the likes of SumaiL and iceiceice.
There is a world where Alliance put up more resistance than expected since they’re a relatively unknown opponent for Secret. But if we go purely off the two rosters’ quality, Team Secret is a level above.
Prediction: Team Secret -1.5 maps
