Top College Football Houston Cougars Matches to Bet On their 2022 Schedule

The Houston Cougars had an excellent season last year as they finished with an 11-2 (8-0) record and picked up a win over Auburn in the Birminham Bowl. They have an excellent chance of doing well once again so today we are going to take a closer look at their schedule for this season and figure out which games we need to bet on as they feel like absolute locks. Let’s get right to it so you can plan your bets against their College Football Odds.

Vs Temple Owls (November 12)

The Temple Owls are not in a great position right now as they ended the season on a seven-game losing streak, including against the Cougars 37-8. The Cougars held the Owls to just 218 total yards of offense and that is incredible how much they drained the clock and forced three and outs as they almost doubled the time of possession.

Houston is leaps and bounds ahead of where Temple is as a program and that should remain prevalent in this matchup. The Cougars should dominate once again and cover the spread.

At UTSA Roadrunners (September 3)

The first game of the season is typically one of the best opportunities to place a wager and this game should be interesting. Junior wide receiver Nathaniel Dell has been an excellent wide receiver and I do not see a defensive back on the Roadrunners being able to contain his impact on the game as he finished last season with 90 receptions for 1,329 yards and 12 touchdown catches. The UTSA Roadrunners secondary is not great, so Clayton Tune should look to go deep throughout the game and take advantage of soft coverage.

The Cougars have covered the spread in seven of their last nine games against Conference USA opponents and it looks like this will be a touchdown difference so go with the Houston Cougars to start the season off with a solid victory on the road.

At Navy Midshipmen (October 22)

Just like any program facing off against Navy, you need to be able to stop the run as that is 95 percent of Navy’s offense. You also need to keep your head on a swivel as they have no problem running triple option plays to get first downs. Houston picked up a 28-20 win early in the year against Navy as they held them to 3-of-15 on third down attempts.

Clayton Tune should be able to throw the ball well on Navy as he went 22-of-30 for 257 yards and a touchdown. However, the Cougars cannot commit many mistakes offensively as the Midshipmen dominate time of possession due to their playbook being primarily running plays. This should be a quicker game than most on the schedule and an exciting one as each play means more with the fact that less total plays are expected to be called. All in all, go with the Houston Cougars to cover the spread on the road here in a conference matchup.

Conclusion

The Houston Cougars are a solid team and could end up being ranked at some point in this season so there are more than just three games that we could’ve highlighted. What are your favorite games that the Cougars should cover the spread this season?
