Is Geelong Too Short a Favorite against Upstart Gold Coast?
Geelong opened the season with seven straight victories. However, after consecutive losses, the Cats now remain short favorites at Darwin on Thursday. The Suns upended Geelong 73-54 during their only meeting last season.
The Cats will be an important piece for this match. Star Jeremy is in concussion protocol, while there is a chance that Geelong will try to get some rest for Tom Hawkins. Gold Coast is coming off a big win over winless North Melbourne. The Suns are 5-4 overall this season and could use another big win for their resume.
Ben King leads the Suns with 25 goals, while Mat Rowell has a team-high 71 clearances. King gives the Suns one of the more consistent finishers in the league, as he ranks third in the league in total goals. Geelong is -130 to win this game, while Gold Coast is +104 to win. The Cats are 3.5-point favorites, and the over/under has been set at 162.5 points.
This is an important match for Geelong. With a few stars out, the Cats will want to pick up a win to prevent its two-game skid from continuing. Gold Coast will be eager to repeat its success from last year to move up the table.

What Kind of Pride Does North Melbourne Have?
Things have been rough for North Melbourne this season. The Kangaroos have been getting steamrolled in nearly every match this season. North Melbourne has allowed all nine opponents this season to score 100 points or more.
Essendon will be a 47.5-point favorite this week against North Melbourne. The Bombers haven’t been locked in too many high-scoring affairs this season. Essendon has only scored more than 100 points in two matches this season. The Bombers haven’t done so since Round 2.
Essendon has gotten off to a strong 6-2-1 start this season. The over/under in this match is set at 178.5 points. With how the Kangaroos play defense, the Bombers should boost their offense in the arm.

Collingwood Seeks to Clear Championship Hangover
The Magpies returned to glory last season, clipping Brisbane by four points to capture the Grand Final. Collingwood hardly looked like a championship-quality team through the first three rounds of this season. The Magpies started 0-3, but have gone 5-0-1 since to get them back in the running for the postseason.
Collingwood will want to continue their momentum against an average Adelaide Crows team. The Magpies are 20.5-point favorites to take down the Crows. Adelaide is 3-5-1 on the season but has started to turn things around.
The Crows enter on a three-match unbeaten streak but have to be disappointed coming off a tie with Brisbane. Darcy Fogarty had a strong performance for Adelaide last week, scoring four goals. The Crows will need him to continue to play well if they are going to spring an upset.

Previous Betting News
With the 2020 AFL season steamrolling into its round 10 slate of action, it’s time to find out who’s in action and which teams are looking good against their AFL betting odds this coming week. With one round 10 matchup complete thanks to league-leading Port Adelaide’s win over Western in the wee hours of Monday morning, let’s find out what’s in store for the remainder of the round 10 schedule, along with their AFL odds.
AFL Round 10 Events Preview – Odds and Picks
Brisbane (7-2) vs. Richmond (5-3-1)
Brisbane is sitting in second place in the standings while Richmond is in fifth place. The Lions have scored 633 points while allowing 515 points defensively. Richmond has put 577 points on the board while allowing 493 points defensively. Richmond has won four of five including an emphatic 90-49 smackdown over Western the last time out. Brisbane has won three straight and four of five including an emphatic 91-28 blowout win over Essendon the last time out. Despite being on the road, I like Brisbane for the narrow win in this one!
North Melbourne (3-6-0) vs. Geelong (5-4-0)
Geelong is in sixth place in the AFL standings, having scored 614 points while allowing 519 points defensively. North Melbourne is in 14th place in the 18-team standings with 540 points scored and 588 points allowed. Geelong has dropped two straight including a 73-64 road loss against West Coast on Saturday. North Melbourne snapped a four-game losing streak by smacking Adelaide senseless en route to a 119-50 rout on Friday. Despite their big win the last time out, I’m expecting Geelong to cruise over lowly North Melbourne in this one.
Melbourne (3-5-0) vs. Adelaide (0-9-0)
Adelaide is in last place as the only winless team in the league. Adelaide has scored 413 points while allowing a league-high 729 points defensively. Melbourne is in 15th place in the standings, having scored 453 points while allowing 504 points defensively. Adelaide got smacked senseless in their humbling 119-50 loss against North Melbourne on Friday while Melbourne has dropped two straight including an embarrassing 83-32 blowout loss against Port Adelaide on Thursday. Melbourne might be awful this season, but they are easily, the lesser of two evils in this clash.
Collingwood (4-4-1) vs. Sydney (3-6-0)
Collingwood is in 10th place in the AFL standings, having scored 525 points while allowing 470 points defensively. Sydney is in 17t place in the 18-team standings with 494 points scored and a whopping 634 points allowed. Collingwood has lost two straight and three of five, but they are still the pick to take care of business in this clash against a Sydney squad that has lost four of five, including an embarrassing 101-48 road loss against St. Kilda on Saturday.
Pick: Collingwood 66 Sydney 60
When: Thursday, 6 August at 2:40 AM
St. Kilda (6-3-0) vs. Gold Coast (4-5-0)
Gold Coast is in 11th place in the standings with 553 points scored and 543 points allowed. St. Kilda is now in third place in the standings, having scored 670 points while limiting their opponents to 534 points defensively. Gold Coast has lost two in a row and four of their last five including a 61-35 home loss against GWS on Sunday. St. Kilda enters this affair riding the wave of a three-game winning streak that includes an emphatic 101-48 beat-down of Sydney on Saturday. Despite being on the road in this clash, St. Kilda is the easy pick to win and cash in against a Gold Coast team that has hit the skids at the worst time.
Pick: St. Kilda 89 Gold Coast 52
When: Thursday, 6 August at 5:10 AM
Greater Western Sydney (5-4-0) vs. Essendon (5-3-0)
Essendon is in ninth place in the standings and has a winning record despite having scored 464 points while allowing 526 points defensively. Greater Western Sydney is in seventh place in the standings with 584 points scored and 559 points allowed. Essendon has lost two of their last three including a pitiful 91-28 home loss against Brisbane on Friday. GWS has won two straight and three of their last five including a 61-35 road win over Gold Coast on Sunday. After seeing Essendon’s performance in round 9, there is absolutely no way that anyone should be backing them in round 10.
Pick: GWS 82 Essendon 50
When: Friday, 7 August at 4:50 AM
Byes
Carlton, Fremantle, Hawthorn, West Coast
