Superbike Prometeon Italian Round Odds Favorites, Betting Analysis and Picks

We are at the midway point of the World SBK season, and we have a very clear leader at the top of the racer standings. It is beginning to look as though the World Championship might be wrapped up sooner rather than later, but with 6 rounds and 18 races still to come, you can bet that no one is ready to say that this whole thing is done just yet. This weekend, the racers will head to Italy for the next 3 races on the schedule, with the pack all chasing Alvaro Bautista and hoping that he somehow begins to loosen his stranglehold on the proceedings. Stranger things have happened, so let’s take a look at the Superbike betting analysis and the current leaders to see how things might go this weekend.

WorldSBK Superbike Round 7 Betting Analysis: Prometeon Italian Round

When: July 14-16
Where: Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola, Italy
TV / Streaming: NBC Sports

Alvaro Bautista

There have been 18 races run this season in the SBK schedule, and Bautista has only failed to win 2 of those races. Of those 2, he was forced to retire in one of them and finished 2nd in the other, so this has been as close to total domination and perfection as you can get. The question now is whether he can maintain that level of dominance in the second half of the season, while the harsh reality is that he probably can slip a little and still win the World Championship. You have to like his chances in Italy, as he had 2 wins and a 2nd place finish in that location last season.

Toprak Razgatlioglu

In any other season, the 2021 world champion might once again be sitting on top of the standings at the midway point, but it’s impossible to match what Bautista has done this season. In the races that he has finished this season, which is 17 of the 18 races to this point, Razgatlioglu has won twice and never been off the podium. He has 264 points, which has him on pace to come very close to matching the total he posted when he won it all a couple of years back. He finished 2 of the 3 races in Italy last year with a win and a 2nd place finish.

Andrea Locatelli

While the championship race looks to be a 2-horse affair, for the other racers, it’s all about putting in a personal best at this point. For Locatelli, his current 3rd place standing would be his best finish in his time with SBK, assuming he can maintain this level through the second half of the season. Locatelli has had 5 podium finishes this season and will likely need to keep up that pace to stay in the top 3. He finished 6th in all 3 races in Italy last season.

Jonathan Rea

At this point, we are starting to talk about racers who are battling it out for the lesser positions, and most notably, a top 3 finish this season. Rea, a 6-time world champion, would probably be a good bet to land in the top 3 overall given what he has done in his career, but he will need a strong second half to get into that spot. Rea is still looking for his first win of the season, but he might be a good podium bet this week, as that is where he landed in 2 of the 3 races in Italy last season.
