The ACC no longer has divisions but these teams didn’t play every year when they did as they were in separate ones. Clemson leads the overall series 37-16-1 and 15-12 on the road. It has won the past five with the last meeting in 2018 and a 35-6 Tigers win.

Clemson beat North Carolina in the 2022 ACC title game and then lost to Tennessee in the Orange Bowl 31-14. Cade Klubnik, making his first start for Clemson, completed 30 of 54 passes for 320 yards with two interceptions in the loss to the Vols. The Tigers are 15-4-1 all-time in conference openers of seasons following ACC titles, a mark that includes wins in conference openers following each of Clemson’s six ACC titles from 2015-20. Clemson enters the season as the nation’s No. 9 team according to both the AP Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll. The last team to win a national championship after opening the season at No. 9 in the AP Poll was the 1992 Alabama Crimson Tide, a team which included a senior wideout by the name of Dabo Swinney.
Clemson is attempting to extend its school record by winning 10 games for a 13th consecutive season. Clemson is presently one of three FBS programs ever to post 12 consecutive 10-win seasons alongside Alabama (15 from 2008-22) and Florida State (14 from 1987-2000).
The Tigers are looking for a 13th straight ACC win. It would add to Clemson’s fourth-longest streak of wins against ACC opponents, trailing a 28-game streak from 2017-20, a 20-game streak from 1981-84 and a 15-game streak from 2015-16. Swinney (99-19) is attempting to join Bobby Bowden (117) as the only coaches in history to win at least 100 games in ACC regular season competition.
Running back Will Shipley needs 580 yards to become the 12th player in school history to reach 2,500 career rushing yards. He needs 1,080 rushing yards to become the eighth Clemson player to reach 3,000 career rushing yards.

Why Bet on Duke?
Duke was a huge surprise last year under first-year coach Mike Elko, finishing at 9-4 after upsetting UCF 30-13 in the Military Bowl. The nation’s second-leading team in turnover margin, Duke was plus-two vs. UCF with a fumble recovery and a game-sealing interception in the game’s final seconds by rookie Chandler Rivers.
Sophomore quarterback Riley Leonard was named the Military Bowl MVP after rolling up 236 total yards and scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Blue Devils converted three rushing touchdowns in the game to finish the season with 31, setting a new Duke standard for a single season.
Elko became the first head coach in program history to lead his team to nine wins and a bowl victory in the first season at the helm. After Duke recorded an 0-8 ledger in ACC play in 2021, Elko guided the Blue Devils to a 5-3 mark to match the best one-year improvement by a winless team in league history. The plus-six overall improvement (3 wins in 2021 to 9 victories in 2022) equaled the second-best turnaround in ACC history as well.
Duke returns 19 starters (nine on offense, eight on defense and two on special teams) from a year ago, including seven All-ACC selections in offensive tackle Graham Barton, wide receiver and return specialist Jalon Calhoun, defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, safety Brandon Johnson, quarterback Leonard, center Jacob Monk, and punter Porter Wilson.
The Blue Devils hold an all-time record of 64-43-3 in season-opening games. Duke is 7-3 over its last 10 season-openers, including last year’s 30-0 triumph over Temple. Against nationally-ranked opponents, the Blue Devils are 0-13 in season-openers. Duke has played on Monday just three previous times in its history with the most recent dating back to Jan. 2, 1961, against Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl to conclude the 1960 season.
Duke’s last win over Clemson came on Nov. 13, 2004 when Matt Brooks kicked a 53-yard field goal as time expired to help the Blue Devils claim a 16-13 victory in Durham.
