The college football playoff picture changed dramatically when the NCAA made the decision to move to a 12-team playoff. Despite those projections, the Toledo CFP odds sit at 20/1. Those are some value odds for a team that many believe has a shot at winning the MAC. This was an 8-win team last year, but we think they have a shot at being much better this season.

 

San Jose State – Up-Tempo Upside and a Soft Schedule

Over in the Mountain West Conference, all eyes are likely to be on Boise State and UNLV, the two teams that battled it out for top spot last season. Not a lot of people are looking at San Jose State, especially at 50/1 odds, but this is a team with momentum under 2nd year head coach Ken Niumtalalo, who has them playing exiting up-tempo football. We have them as one of our G5 sleeper picks because their schedule avoids Boise and UNLV.

 

UTEP – The Longest Shot with Highest Upside

A 3-win team last year and 300/1 odds, you might not be on the UTEP betting sleeper train, but we think this is a team with a ton of upside with new coaches and the possibility of having a rebound year. Yes, this is still a risky pick, but we would definitely put a few bucks on the Miners.
