Series History

Last season, Kentucky lost 16-6 at home to Georgia. UGA’s success wasn’t easy in cold, windy conditions, and it settled for three Jack Podlesny field goals before Kenny McIntosh’s late third-quarter TD provided a needed cushion. Stetson Bennett completed 13 of 19 for 116 yards with an interception. Will Levis completed 20 of 31 for 206 yards with an interception for Kentucky, which dropped its 13th in row against Georgia. Georgia leads the all-time series 62-12-2 including 31-4-2 at home. The last ranked matchup between the two came here in 2021 when top-ranked Georgia beat No. 11 Kentucky 30-13. Kentucky’s last win over Georgia came in 2009 in Athens.

Why Bet on Kentucky?

Kentucky (5-0) hammered a solid Florida team 33-14 last Saturday as Ray Davis carried the ball 26 times for 280 yards and three rushing touchdowns. His rushing total was the third highest in UK history, just 19 yards short of Moe Williams’ record, set in 1995. Davis also caught a pass for a touchdown. His four touchdowns tied the most in Kentucky school history. His 280 yards helped him eclipse 3,000 yards rushing for his career, currently sitting at 3,091. UK had 329 yards rushing in the game, compared to just 69 for the Gators. Quarterback Devin Leary completed nine of his 20 passing attempts for 69 yards, no interceptions, and one touchdown.

The 19-point margin of victory was the largest for UK vs. Florida since 1979, a 31-3 triumph at Florida and it was UK’s largest margin of victory against a ranked Florida since 1976, 28-9 in Lexington. Kentucky is 5-0 for fifth time in the last 72 years (also 1984, 2007, 2018 and 2021) and third time under head coach Mark Stoops (also 2018 and 2021). UK is 2-0 in the SEC for only the third time in the last 46 seasons, also 2018 and 2021. It has won its first five games of the season by at least 11 points for the first time since 2018.

This is the third season in a row that Kentucky will be taking on a No. 1-ranked Georgia team, while UK has just three wins over a top-ranked team in program history. UK has now defeated at least one ranked opponent for four consecutive seasons, which is the first time in school history.

Davis leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks among the top five in the nation in rushing yards (594), rushing yards per game (118.8), rushing touchdowns (8), all-purpose yards per game (148) and scoring per game (13.2). He also leads the SEC and is 15th nationally in yards per rushing attempt (7.82). The Wildcat defense is first in the league and ninth in the nation in rushing defense (75.8).

Why Bet on Georgia?

Georgia (5-0) escaped at Auburn 27-20 last Saturday. Quarterback Carson Beck led Georgia as he finished 23-for-33 for 313 yards and one touchdown. During Georgia’s last three possessions against Auburn, Beck was 12-for-15 for 201 yards and one TD. He directed three scoring drives that covered 98, 71 and 75 yards during his first SEC road contest.

Tight end Brock Bowers led all receivers with eight catches for a career-high 157 yards, while running back Daijun Edwards rushed 19 times for a team-high 76 yards and two touchdowns. Linebacker Smael Mondon, Jr. tied his career high with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops and two tackles for loss, while defensive back Javon Bullard returned from injury for a career-best 10 tackles.

It marked the 12th win for the Bulldogs in the Kirby Smart era when Georgia entered the fourth quarter either tied or trailing late. It was only the third in the Smart era that a game was tied at halftime. Georgia is now 2-1 in these games. One of the keys to Georgia’s latest SEC win was its ability stop Auburn on third down. The Tigers were just 2-for-12 in third down conversions while the Bulldogs were 8-for-13. Georgia is ranked sixth nationally in third down defense, allowing opponents to convert just under 25 percent of the time.

The Bulldogs extended their school record for consecutive regular season wins to 32, which leads all of FBS, and is the second longest active streak in the NCAA behind DIII Mount Union (58 straight). Georgia now has won 21 regular season SEC games in a row dating to a 31-24 win over Miss. State on Nov. 21, 2020. The school record is 23, set during a stretch from 1980-83. The Bulldogs have won 22 straight at home. The current streak began with a 21-0 win over Kentucky on Oct. 19, 2019. Georgia’s longest home winning streak is 24 set from 1980-83.

Through two SEC games this year, Georgia’s average margin of victory is 8.5 points. The past two years, Georgia has posted back-to-back 8-0 marks in SEC action with the average margin of victory of 25.5 (2022) and 31.9 (2021).
