Early Rundown of the League of Legends World Championship 2023

The League of Legends World Championship 2023 is set to kick off on October 10, 2023, welcoming the world’s top LoL esports teams who will compete for the prestigious title of world champions and the lion’s share of the +2 million prize pool.

And even though there’s still over a month left until the tournament begins, this is the prime time to look ahead and see what the season-culminating LoL esports tournament should look like.

Even though the LoL Worlds 2023 is still a couple of months away, MyBookie has the LoL lines for each team odds to win the tournament.

The Worlds 2023 Favorites

Even though we don’t yet have a full list of teams who’ll attend the LoL World Championship 2023, all of the world’s strongest teams and most likely to succeed are already locked in for the tournament. Yet, this year’s outright betting markets look much different than in previous years.

For the first time in a very long time, we have one clear favorite to win it all, JD Gaming. The Chinese juggernauts are by far the best team in the world, and they have results to back it up.

Since the turn of the year, JD Gaming have won every single event, including the LPL 2023 Spring regular season, the LPL 2023 Spring Playoffs, the Mid-Season Invitational 2023, and the LPL 2023 Summer Playoffs. The only event that JD Gaming didn’t win was the LPL 2023 Summer regular season, where they came one win short of catching up to Bilibili Gaming – yet even that doesn’t count for much.

Evidently, JD Gaming are in excellent form, and even their domestic success is not something to ignore, knowing that the LPL is the current strongest LoL league, although some might argue that it’s as strong as the LCK. Nevertheless, no other LoL team in the world has come close to looking as good as JD Gaming this season.

If JDG can keep playing at the level they’ve shown, it’s not too crazy to believe that they’ll win the LoL World Championship and become the first team in history to win every single event in a single year.

Asian Teams Are Expected To Dominate

Even though the gap between JD Gaming and the rest is huge, the gap between Asian squads and the rest is equally as big. And that is confirmed by the offered outright betting odds.

The current eight shortest-priced teams to win the LoL World Championship 2023 are:

  • JD Gaming +100 (LP)

  • LNG Esports +500 (LPL)

  • Gen.G +600 (LCK

  • Bilibili Gaming +800 (LPL)

  • T1 +900 (LCK)

  • Weibo Gaming +1000 (LPL)

  • KT Rolster +1200 (LCK)

  • Dplus KIA +1600 (LCK)

That list rounds up all eight Asian (4 LCK + 4 LPL) LoL esports teams, who are, according to the betting odds, the only eight squads with a realistic chance to win the LoL World Championship 2023.

What About The West?

The gap between the West and East has been growing annually, and we’ve come to a point now where even the offered betting odds paint a clear picture of how much better LCK and LPL are compared to LEC, LCS, and other minor regions.

G2 Esports, who are priced as the strongest Western team are +2500 underdogs to win LoL Worlds 2023, followed by MAD Lions, who are at +6600. North America’s first seed, Cloud9, are at +8000, with the LCS 2023 Summer runners-up, NRG Esports are priced at +10000.

We’ve seen Cinderella stories before, but this year could be the first that will firmly establish that the East is simply significantly better than the West in LoL esports.
