FIFA World Cup Qualifying Games – CONMEBOL – Oct. 7

Argentina -166 vs. Paraguay +500

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

Copa American Champion Argentina is in no danger of missing out on next year’s World Cup. Argentina has won 5 straight, including beating Venezuela 3-1 on Sep. 2 and trouncing Bolivia 3-0 on Sep. 9 in a pair of FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.

Paraguay is much better than either Venezuela or Bolivia. But the Argentinians are on fire. FIFA’s #6 ranked team in the world should roll to an easy victory.

Soccer Pick: Argentina

Colombia +295 vs. Uruguay +103

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

Uruguay is on track. After drawing with Peru on Sep. 2, the Uruguayans won 2 straight, beating Bolivia 4-2 and Ecuador 1-0. Luis Suarez didn’t play in either match, which means Uruguay is winning with their younger talent.

Colombia shows a couple of wins and a couple of draws in their last 4. The Colombian’s beat Chile 3-1 in their last match, a WC qualifier, on Sep. 9.

Because this happens on Uruguay’s pitch, they should win this. But Colombia is in very good form. We’ll go for the draw.

Soccer Pick: Draw

Brazil -1 ½ (-108) vs. Venezuela +1 ½ (-121)

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

Venezuela is on a 4-match losing streak. Not only that, but in the last head-to-head, a Copa America match in mid-June, Brazil dominated Venezuela 3-0.

The Brazilians have won 4-of-5 with a loss. The loss happened in the Copa America Finals versus rival Argentina. Venezuela isn’t close to being on Argentina’s level, which is why Brazil will cover the handicap.

Soccer Pick: Brazil

Bolivia +2 ½ (-178) vs. Ecuador -2 ½ (+132)

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

Bolivia is so bad that Ecuador, who has a victory, 2 losses, and 2 draws in their last 5, is -2 ½ on the handicap. On March 29, Ecuador beat Bolivia 2-1 in an international friendly.

Because this match means more than the last head-to-head, Ecuador should be more aggressive. But Bolivia has lost a single match by at least 3 goals in their last 5, and that was to Argentina.

Still, the Bolivians are impossible to back at -178. We know this won’t be a draw and Ecuador is too much of a favorite on the moneyline. The only bet we’ve got is on the Ecuadoreans to win this by 3 or more.

Soccer Pick: Ecuador

Chile +180 vs. Peru +160

When: Thursday, Oct. 7

Peru had a fantastic Copa America, losing 3-2 versus Colombia in the third-place match. Since the surprising Copa performance, the Peruvians have played well, beating Venezuela, drawing against Uruguay, and losing 2-0 to Brazil.

Chile shows 3 losses and a draw in their last 5. However, Chile beat Peru 2-0 in the last head-to-head.

No doubt, Peru has the edge because this happens on their pitch. There isn’t enough of an odds difference to go against the home squad.

Soccer Pick: Peru
