Zozos heads to the Philip H. Iselin on a 3-race winning streak. The Cox trainee won the Hanshin Stakes at Ellis Park in the last. Weyburn, Ridin With Biden, Trademark, Double Crown, Whelen Springs, and Steal Sunshine should also run.

Alabama Stakes | Grade 1

Fillies, especially three-year-olds, don’t run 1 ¼ miles often and when they do, it’s usually on the turf. The Alabama is a 1 ¼ mile dirt race, which makes it one of the most unique on the thoroughbred racing calendar.

Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks winner Wet Paint will go off the chalk. The Brad Cox trained miss has won 4-of-6 and finished fourth in the Kentucky Oaks.

Gambling Girl, trained by Todd Pletcher, finished third behind Wet Paint and Sacred Wish in the CC American Oaks. The Pletcher runner will attract action.

Others confirmed for the Alabama include Indiana Oaks winner Defining Purpose, Taxed, Sabra Tuff, Julia Shining, and Southlawn.

By Thursday, we’ll have a good idea of which horses will go. In 2022, trainer Phil D’Amato scratched Rhea Moon, which opened the door for Spendarella to get it done as the 6-to-5 favorite.

Dance Smartly Stakes | Grade 2

Idiomatic, Purrfect, and Angelou also project to break from the gate. In the filly and mare turf division at Woodbine, runners tend to trade wins. So make sure to handicap the race fully before deciding on the winner.
