NBA 2021 Playoffs Betting: 1st Round Series Update

Written by on May 31, 2021

It’s Memorial Day weekend, and the NBA Playoffs are in full swing. We’re heading into the middle part of each of the first-round series that have yet to be already decided. Let’s take a brief look at each of the first-round series of this year’s NBA Playoffs so you can continue betting against their NBA Playoffs odds.

2021 Playoffs First-Round Series Matches So Far – NBA Betting

Eastern Conference

  • (1) Philadelphia 76ers vs (8) Washington Wizards

The Sixers have looked dominant in their first three games, taking a 3-0 lead. Game 4 will be played on Monday in Washington DC, and the Sixers will look for the sweep. The trio of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris looks to be too much for Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook, and the rest of the Washington Wizards.

  • (4) New York Knicks vs (5) Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is becoming the Reggie Miller of this era, being a huge antagonist to the New York Knicks. After leaving the Garden tied at one game apiece, the Hawks have won their two games at home to take a 3-1 lead. New York doesn’t seem to have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Hawks.

  • (2) Brooklyn Nets vs (7) Boston Celtics

The Nets own a 2-1 series lead over the Celtics at the time of this writing. After looking overmatched by the powerful Nets, the Celtics won Game 3 in Boston. The trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving looks to be too much for the Celtics to handle. However, if Jayson Tatum can play like the superstar that he is and put the team on his shoulders, the Celtics could make it tough for Brooklyn.

The Milwaukee Bucks swept the Miami Heat and are now awaiting the winner of the Nets-Celtics series. If the Nets can win that one, we should see a great matchup in the second round.

Western Conference

  • (1) Utah Jazz vs (8) Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies shocked the Jazz in Game 1. However, Donovan Mitchell returned to the Jazz lineup in Game 2, and the Jazz took the next two games to go up 2-1 in the series. Memphis has struggled to stop the Jazz, and even though they’re a young and upcoming group, the Grizzlies just aren’t quite ready to take the next step.

  • (4) Los Angeles Clippers vs (5) Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic owned the Clippers in the first two games, taking a 2-0 series lead back to Dallas. The Clippers knew their backs were against the wall and took Game 3 by a score of 118-108. Game 4 will be played on Sunday night, and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will need to play well to help the Clippers to even the series at two games apiece.

  • (2) Phoenix Suns vs (7) Los Angeles Lakers

After Anthony Davis left Game 4 with a groin injury, the Suns were able to even the series at two games apiece. If Davis isn’t able to play again in this series, the Suns will have a great shot at advancing to the second round. We’ll see if LeBron James will be able to carry the Lakers.

  • (3) Denver Nuggets vs (6) Portland Trail Blazers

This one could go seven games, as these two teams have looked to be evenly matched. Each team has won one game on the other team’s home floor. This series could end up being the most exciting first-round matchup. We’ll see if Nikola Jokic or Damian Lillard can lead his respective team to the next round.
