Is This Luka’s Time to Shine? Betting on the NBA Finals Celtics vs Mavericks Odds

Given that the conference finals ended rather quickly, we now have some time to wait before we get to the start of the NBA Finals.

The Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks will meet up in what some see as a bit of a lopsided affair.

My Analysis, Odds for The Finals

Then again, you could probably have said that about any team that made it out of the west given how dominant the Celtics have been all season long, Still, we have to play the games to decide the winner, with Game 1 set to go next Thursday night, June 6, in Boston. The series is certainly not decided in a single game, but what happens next week could set the tone. With all of that said, let’s look at how both teams got here, as well as some of the odds for the 2024 NBA Finals.

Boston Celtics NBA Finals Winner Pick -218

The Celtics put together a fabulous regular season, going 64-18 and winning the Eastern Conference by a mammoth 14 games. That, of course, gave them the #1 seed and home court advantage throughout the playoffs, which was huge considering they went 37-4 in their own building.

The playoffs have been as comfortable as the regular season, with Boston winning 12 and losing just 2 games on their way to the NBA Finals. If there was one surprise in their run to the Finals, it was that both games that they lost were at home.

Boston is at odds of -218 to win it all.

Dallas Mavericks NBA Finals Winner Pick +174

The Mavericks took the harder path to the Finals after finishing as the #5 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 50-12. They opened things up against the LA Clippers, who a lot of pundits had potentially going on a deep run and won that series in 6 games.

Round 2 saw the Mavericks go up against the Oklahoma City Thunder. For the second straight series, they lost the opening game, only to bounce back and win the series in 6 games. By comparison, the Western Conference Final was a much easier affair, with the Mavericks taking care of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 5 games.

The bookies have Dallas listed at +174 to win it all.

Number of Games

Now that we know the teams, you all probably have an idea of who you believe will win. At this stage of the proceedings, I’m sure it’s fair to say that a lot of bettors have been on the Celtics since the very early stages of the season, as this team never really looked to be in any trouble at any time.

As far as the NBA Finals matchup goes, a lot of pundits have this series ending quickly. During the regular season, these teams met twice, with the Celtics winning both games in a bit of a canter.

The bookies have the most likely outcome being the Celtics winning it in 5 games, with the odds for that sitting at +340. Interestingly enough, Boston winning in 7 games is listed at +350. The shortest odds for the Mavericks coming away with the win has them doing the business in 6 games, with the odds for that outcome set at +550.
