2024 March Madness Betting Look at Cinderellas, Sleepers and Bracket-Busters
MyBookie NCAAB | Online College Basketball Betting
We are on the brink of the start of March Madness, with the First Four games set to begin what is sure to be an exciting tournament. We are going to skip past those games to look at the main bracket as we try to find a few teams that might be able to cause an upset and bust a whole bunch of brackets. Keep in mind that the teams we are going to talk about here are not teams that we think can go very deep. Instead, these are teams that might move on as an opening round underdog. That said, we are also going to talk about a couple of teams that might well make it into the Sweet Sixteen with a little bit of luck. With all of that said, let’s get to our March Madness sleepers and bracket busters.
UAB Blazers
The Blazers moved to the AAC this season and very much made the most of it, winning the conference tournament to head into March Madness on a hot run of form. They come into the tournament as the #12 seed and will open against the San Diego State Aztecs, a team that went all the way to the Final Four last season. With a few of very good players in Smith, Brzovic, and Burnham, all of whom have put up solid scoring stats, the Blazers could keep this thing close. The Aztecs have not been very consistent this season, so keep an eye on this one.

Duquesne Dukes
When it comes to finding potential upsets, I tend to look for teams that are coming into the tournament on a hot streak. The Dukes certainly fit that bill, as they come into Round 1 on an 8-game winning streak. This is a team that can, when they are at their very best, play a stifling form of defense that makes things very tough on their opponent. They have a tough opening game against BYU, but if the Duquesne defense can play to the best of their ability, we might be looking at a live longshot.

McNeese Cowboys
The Cowboys are a team that has the potential to maybe win a couple of games in the tournament, although starting as the 12 seed is certainly not ideal. What is it specifically that makes McNeese a potential sleeper pick? There are a couple of reasons, the first of which is that they are coming off a 30-win season, so they definitely know how to get the job done. Perhaps the biggest reason to look at the Cowboys, though, is their turnover margin, which was 3rd best in the nation behind Houston and Iowa State. In my mind, that makes them a dangerous proposition.

James Madison Dukes
In just his second full season as the head coach of the Dukes, James Byington has transformed his team into a champion, as they come into this one on the heels of winning the Sun Belt Championship. The Dukes are exciting to watch and ended the season in the top 10 in scoring, so they are likely to force their opponents, the Wisconsin Badgers, into a shootout. If they can get past Wisconsin in Round 1, they will be potentially looking at Duke in Round 2.
