NCAAF 2020 Bowl Games O/U Picks December 22nd Edition

Written by on December 22, 2020

It is going to be interesting to see if the first bow game of the season sets the tone for the rest. The first game saw Appalachian State run wild, downing North Texas by a score of 56-28. Anyone who took the OVER in that game would have been able to relax quite early, as the Mountaineers had 35 points on the board at half-time. The reality though, is that you never really know how things are going to go in these games. History has shown us that while some teams head into bowl games bound and determined to get the win, other show up and just go through the motions. That’s just something to keep in mind as you start putting together your plays for this week. For the purposes of this piece, let’s take a look at our O/U picks for the bowl games coming this week so you wager against their NCAAF odds.

College Football O/U Picks for the Bowl Games | Dec. 22nd Edition

Memphis Tigers Vs Florida Atlantic Owls (OVER 49 ½)

The Cramton Bowl goes on Wednesday and will feature a pair of teams who have had very different seasons on the offensive side of the football. While Memphis averaged 34 PPG, the Owls managed just 20 PPG, which is a big drop off from the numbers they posted when Lane Kiffin was still in charge. Both of these teams trended more towards the UNDER during the course of the season, but as we saw in the opening bowl game, things tend to loosen up a little at this time of the year. Historically, though, there are some signs that point to the over, such as Memphis going 20-7 O/U in their last 27 games versus teams with a winning record. The OVER has also hit in 6 of the last 9 games that FAU have started as the underdog.

South Carolina Gamecocks Vs UAB Blazers (OVER 48)

The Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl is set for Saturday, with the South Carolina Gamecocks and the UAB Blazers set to square off. With a 2-8 record and 6-straight losses to their name, you do wonder what kind of mindset the Gamecocks are going to have coming into this game. Had it not been for the strange nature of this season, this team would not have been anywhere near a bowl game, so perhaps they will try to make the most of it. As the underdog, the Gamecocks have seen 6 of their last 9 games go OVER. UAB finished the regular season with a respectable 6-3 record and have seen 4 of theirs last 6 Saturday games go OVER the point total.

Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Vs UTSA Roadrunners (OVER 57 ½)

The SERVPRO First Responder Bowl goes on Saturday afternoon and looks, on the face of it, to be a bit of a lopsided matchup. The Ragin Cajuns are in as a 14-point favorite for this one after finishing the season with a very solid 9-1 regular season mark. This is a team that puts up around 34 PPG, yet they always seem to trend towards the under. It is much the same story with the UTSA Roadrunners, who finished the season with a 7-4 record, and who also are a decent under bet. This, for me, is one of those hunch plays. I think we are going to see some offense in this one, which is why I am taking a shot at the OVER.
