Why are EPL futures handicappers all over Man City?

The Sky Blues dominated the 2020-2021 season. Manchester City beat their closest competitor, rival Manchester United, by 14 points.

City beat Liverpool by 17 and Chelsea by 19. Why wouldn’t Premier League future bettors be all over the Sky Blues?

But although Manchester City looks primed for a repeat performance, Pep Guardiola has yet to replace striker Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian leaped at the chance to join fellow countryman Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

With Aguero now at Barca, Guardiola has had to scramble to find a replacement. On Pep’s list are such players as Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku and even Ronaldo who currently calls Juventus his home.

The transfer window doesn’t end until August 30. If you believe Guardiola finds his striker, Manchester City could be an overlay at -150. But if you don’t think Pep secures the striker he craves, the odds make the Sky Blues an underlay.

Which team offers overlay odds among Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea?

Rumor has it, Chelsea will make a play for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski. The belief in some circles is that Munich parts ways with their striker to make room for Erling Haaland.

Haaland can sign with any team for a 70 million euro fee after next season. His current value in the transfer market demands at least 150 million. So if Bayern wants to ready for Haaland, the best thing for them to do would be to transfer Lewandowski, pocket around 50 million euros, and wait for when Haaland bolts.

So if Chelsea does land Lewandowski, the +500 odds will look like a gift. Even if Chelsea doesn’t grab Lewandowski, they’re bound to sign a striker who will help the cause. The Blues beat Man City three times last season and won the Champions League.

Any addition to Thomas Tuchel’s squad that improves the Blues puts Chelsea in the running to win the EPL this season.

At their current odds, are Tottenham, Leicester City, and Arsenal worth a look?

The odds imply those three teams don’t have a chance and, maybe, they don’t, but because of the odds, all three deserve a look. Among the three, Tottenham looks best.

Harry Kane wants out but, so far at least, he remains a Hotspur. Also, new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo should get the most out of Tottenham’s players.

Even if Kane leaves, the Hotspur have enough players to find success. Consider Tottenham a much better play than the odds indicate, making them a big time overlay.

Among the big underdogs, which team has the best chance at scoring an EPL Championship?

During a stretch last season, Leeds looked unbeatable. They’d have to pull off somewhat of a miracle to beat Chelsea, Man City, United, and Pool, but crazy things have happened in the Premier League.

Put Leeds on your list of possible longshots. Also consider Everton and West Ham United. Everton finished tenth in 2021. West Ham finished sixth. Neither should win the Premier League, but at the odds, both are worth a look.
