2023 FIFA Club World Cup Semifinal Odds: Fluminense vs Al Aly Analysis and Pick

Brazilian Serie A club Fluminense is a favorite to beat Egyptian team Al Aly in one of two FIFA Club World Cup semifinals this week. Fluminense versus Al Aly happens on Monday. But although the Brazilian Serie A squad is the chalk, Al Aly has a somewhat of a home pitch advantage since this happens in Saudi Arabia.

Will Al Aly pull off a second straight upset over a quality squad? Or will Fluminense show why the oddsmakers and soccer handicappers believe they play in the FIFA Club World Cup Final?

Check out FIFA Club World Cup odds, analysis, and free pick for Fluminense versus Al Aly.

Why Bet on Fluminense versus Al Aly

Since December began, Fluminense hasn’t played great soccer. However, both Palmeiras and Gremio, the two teams that Fluminense lost to, are qualify clubs. Losing to either isn’t that big of a deal.

Before falling in 2 straight, Fluminense had beaten Sao Paulo, Cortiba, and Santos. A return to form would lead to at least a 1-goal regulation victory in this.

  • L – 2-3 vs Gremio

  • W – 2-1 vs Cortiba

Why Bet on Al Aly versus Fluminense

The last time Al Aly stepped onto the pitch an underdog, things went their way big time. Al Aly was a bigger dog against Al Ittihad than they are versus Fluminense.

All Al Aly did was dominate Karim Benzema and his squad in a 3-1 match. By dominate, we mean Al Aly had a 3-0 goal lead until Benzema kicked in a goal at the 92 minute mark. If Al Aly plays in any way close to what they showed versus Benzema’s squad, forget it. Aly wins this.

Al Aly Last 5

  • W – 3-1 vs Al Ittihad
  • D – 0-0 vs CR Belouizdad
  • D – 1-1 vs Young Africans
  • W – 3-0 vs Medeama
  • D – 1-1 vs Wydad Casablanca

Al Aly Predicted Starters

  • El-Shenawy
  • Abdelmonem
  • Ibrahim
  • Maaloul

Final Betting Analysis: Fluminense vs Al Aly

Fluminense hasn’t played since December 6 and when they did, it wasn’t pretty. So we must ask why Fluminense is the chalk when Al Aly just beat Benzema and Al Ittihad on December 15.

Al Aly got goals from Ali Maaloul, Hussein El-Shahat, and Emam Ashour. Again, those three goals came before Benzema kicked in his goal, which tells us, Al Aly is playing great soccer.

Fluminense won’t be fired up for this game. The Brazilian Serie A squad is better than the underdog on paper, but Al Aly will be the more motivated team. Al Aly is hot. Backing the hot team is never a bad idea.

Soccer Betting Analysis for the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup – Second Round Matches

Two separate second round matches for this season’s FIFA Club World Cup happen over the weekend. On Saturday, CF Monterrey takes on Al Ahly SC on the road a major favorite on the handicap. The winner moves to the semifinals on Tuesday where Brazilian League power Palmeiras awaits. Then on Sunday, Al Hilal Rijad hosts Al Jazira. The winner of Sunday’s match takes on defending Champions League Chelsea next Wednesday. Keep reading for FIFA Club World Cup odds, analysis, and free picks for both of this weekend’s FIFA Club World Cup second round matches.

CF Monterrey -1 ½ +129 vs Al Ahly SC +1 ½ -172

When: Saturday, Feb. 5

Recent form suggests Al Ahly has a chance. The home team has won 4-of-5. Al Ahly has not only won 4-of-5, but in their last 2 matches, they dominated, beating Esperance Sportive de Tunis 3-0 two games back and blasting Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in their last.

But although Al Ahly has played well in their last few games, we shouldn’t read too much into the record. Al Ahly’s last match happened back on July 17, 2021 in a CAF Champions League contest.

Monterrey last played on Jan. 22. The road squad drew 2-2 with one of their chief Mexican Liga BBVA rivals, Cruz Azul. Liga MX is one of the most underrated soccer leagues in the world. Teams like Monterrey develop players who end up in Serie A, La Liga, and the Premier.

Although Monterrey shows just a single victory in their last 5, the Mexican Liga squad drew in their other 4 matches. Not only that, but they have a huge recency edge over the home squad. The road team can cover the handicap.

FIFA Club World Cup Pick: CF Monterrey

Al Jazira +255 vs Al Hilal Rijad -106

When: Sunday, Feb. 6

For the first time since 2016, Al Jazira throws down agianst Al Hilal Rijad in a soccer match that means something. Both teams want a crack at the Blues on Wednesday.

Also, these two are similar in terms of talent. So unlike the Saturday FIFA Club World Cup game, where Monterrey should have no trouble winning, handicapping Al Jazira versus Al Hilal is a challenge.

One issue is that although Al Jazira played on Feb. 3, it was against Tahitian squad AS Pirae. So the 4-1 victory doesn’t necessarily impress as much as Al Hilal’s 2-0 win against Pohang Steelers on Nov. 23 last year.

In fact, Al Hilal’s win impresses more. With the victory over Pohang Steelers, Al Hilal became the first ever 4-time AFC Champions League titlist.

Not only does this happen on the champion’s pitch, but the odds make Al Hilal more than playable. The home squad gets the crack at Chelsea.

FIFA Club World Cup Pick: Al Hilal Rijad
