Betting Liga MX with MyBookie: Play-In and Quarterfinals Matchups Insights for the Clausura 2025

Don’t miss out Betting Liga MX this Weekend! We are now in the Play In and Quarterfinal stage of the Clausura tournament, but before we talk about those games, let’s look at how we got to this point.

All across Europe, we are seeing domestic leagues come to a close, with a few champions already crowned. In Mexico, things are done a little differently, so let’s quickly explain it all before we get into the big games coming this week.

Betting Liga MX – Preview & Predictions

The Liga MX season is actually split into two different sections, Apertura and Clausura, with each team playing 17 games in each of those seasons.

At the end of those 17 games, the top 10 teams go to the playoffs, although we have a play-in first to determine the quarterfinal matchups.

From there, the games are played over 2 legs in a knockout until a champion is crowned.

The Regular Season League Table & Play-in Games

As mentioned at the top of this piece, each team plays 17 games over the course of the season.

The top 6 automatically make it into the quarterfinal, while teams 7 through 10 go into a play-in. Teams 7 and 8 meet, with the winner moving on, while the winner of the 9 and 10 game plays the loser of the other matchup.

The winner of that one makes up the final 8 teams in the postseason. The 6 teams moving on automatically were:

  • Toluca
  • America
  • Cruz Azul
  • Tigres
  • Nexaca
  • Leon

In the play-in, the game between the #7 and #8 seeds saw Pachuca moved on with a 2-1 win over Monterrey, who now has to play Pumas, who got past Juarez on penalties.

That game will go on Sunday night, and when you consider that Monterrey has 3 straight wins over Pumas, it might well be them who go on to face Toluca in the quarterfinal.

The Quarterfinal Matchups with Predictions

We need to wait until the final play-in game has been decided before we can fully break down the matchups between the final 8 teams.

My money is on Monterrey to get through that one, with their reward being a matchup with Toluca, who finished top of the Clausura table.

We can, though, check out the other matchups, so let’s dive right into that:

Leon vs Cruz Azul

Liga MX Bet: Leon 0-1 Cruz Azul

Every team wants to head into the playoffs in the best form possible, so it is not very good news for Leon in that regard. They were very much in the hunt for the top spot for a good part of the season, but with 3 losses in their last 5 games, including defeats in the final 2, Leon dropped all the way down to 6th in the table.

Cruz Azul finished at the top of the Apertura table last season before falling in the playoffs, and this has been another good showing from them, as they finished in 3rd this time around. They are in good form, though, winning or drawing in each of their last 5 games.

Games between these teams tend to be close, with the vast majority decided by a single goal. That said, Cruz Azul has not lost to Leon in their last 8 meetings, so I think they pick up the win on the road in Leg 1.

Necaxa vs Tigres

Liga MX Bet: Necaxa 1-2 Tigres

There was very little between these two teams in the regular season, with Tigres finishing just 2 points ahead of their opponent here. Necaxa had a decent end to their season, going 3-1-1 through their last 5 games, but the 5-3 loss to Pachuca in that stretch has to bee seen as a little it concerning, as they are going to need to tighten up defensively if they want to go all the way.

Tigres drew 2 of their last 3 games, but they did manage to go unbeaten in their last 5 games overall, so they are heading into the quarterfinal in a very decent run of form. They also have the Champions Cup semi-final coming their way on Thursday night, so are they juggling too many things right now? Only time will tell if they can handle these many games in quick succession.

Tigres has absolutely dominated their matchups with Necaxa over the past few seasons, going unbeaten against them in 8 games and winning 7 in a row. I like them to get the win again here.

Pachuca vs America

Liga MX Bet: Pachuca 0-0 America

While everyone involved with Pachuca will be delighted to have made it through the play-in stage, their reward is not really a great one, as they will be facing a team looking for their 4th straight title. It is worth noting, though, that in a very positive 5-game stretch, Pachuca actually had a 1-0 win over America during that time. That victory came on home field, so can they go out and spring the upset again here?

On the flipside, America has been on something of a skid coming down the stretch. They have just 1 win in their last 5 games overall, although they are coming into this game on the heels of a 5-0 hammering of Mazatlan, so perhaps we should not write off the champions just yet.

Games between these two teams tend to be tight, so I actually think that America might be happy with a draw to head home with.

Which Team Will Win the 2025 Clausura?

America’s form has to be seen as a potential issue, though, and we know that all great things eventually come to an end. Here are the top 4 favorites as the bookies see it:

  • America +275
  • Toluca +400
  • Cruz Azul +400
  • Tigres +600

While it is certainly hard to bet against the champs, I think Cruz Azul is very much worth a look. Those are some good odds for a team that is very much in form right now.

Apertura 2024: Quarterfinals, Play-In and Top games Analysis

The first half of the Liga MX regular season is now in the books, which means that the playoffs are almost upon us.

If you are a little confused by that statement, it is not surprising, as Liga MX does things a little differently, crowning 2 champions each year.

My Liga MX Analysis

Right now, we are in the Apertura 2024, which consists of 17 regular season games before getting to the playoffs.

The top 6 teams clinch an automatic spot in the quarterfinal, while teams 6 through 10 go into a playoff in hopes of landing the other 2 quarterfinal spots.

Let’s talk about the play-in before we get to the potential quarterfinal matchups.

Liga MX Play-In 2024

Tijuana vs America

This is the 7th versus 8th game, with the winner of this one automatically moving on, while the loser gets another shot against the winner of the 9 versus 10 play-in game. These two tied 2-2 in the earlier meeting this season, but America has had the best of this matchup, so I like them to move on.

Chivas vs Atlas

This is the 9th versus 10th game, with the winner of this still needing to go on and beat the loser of the other play-in game. Atlas beat Chivas 3-2 on the road earlier this season, but they have been struggling as of late and have just 1 win in their last 5. Slight edge to Chivas here.

I think it will be Tijuana and America making it into the quarterfinal.

Betting Liga MX Possible Quarterfinal 2024

Before we get into this, be aware that a couple of these games are just guesses, as we need to wait until the play-in ends before we get the actual matchups.

Cruz Azul vs America

This would be a rematch of Clausura 2024, which was won by America, who picked up their 2nd straight championship. They are going to need to go the long road to get the three-peat here, which is why I like Cruz Azul to move on if this is indeed the matchup.

Toluca vs Tijuana

When these teams met earlier this season, it was an absolute blowout, with Toluca winning 4-0 at home against Tijuana. While the playoffs tend to be a little tighter and pressure filled, I still think we will see Toluca get the win that moves them on to the semi-finals.

Tigres vs Atletico San Luis

Okay, so the next 2 games that we are going to talk about have been decided already, as they involve teams 3 through 6. It was a tight affair when these two met earlier in the season, with Tigres picking up a 1-0 win at home, where they will be for this game. San Luis has only beaten Tigres twice in 2o attempts, so I have to go with the home team again.

Pumas vs Monterrey

It was a total stalemate when these two teams clashed earlier this season, with Pumas going on the road and tying 0-0 with Monterrey. That said, Monterrey has had the best of this matchup over the years, and while they have to go on the road for this one, I think they grind out a win.

Betting Liga MX Odds to Win the Apertura 2024

  • Cruz Azul +136
  • Tigres +450
  • Toluca +600
  • America +800
  • Monterrey +810
  • Pumas UNAM +1075

  • Club Tijuana +3400
