Juventus sends Ronaldo to Man United

Over the weekend, Juventus did what many of us thought they’d do. Juvy unloaded Ronaldo for a hefty transfer fee.

After last season’s disappointment, where Juventus required a victory over Napoli to secure a spot in this season’s Champions League, Juvy ditched Andrea Pirlo and rehired Massimiliano Allegri.

When Juventus routinely won Serie A trophies and challenged for the Champions League, Allegri was their coach and manager. But Allegri’s system is based on tough defense and possession soccer.

Ronaldo is an aggressive striker. So it made sense that Juvy would transfer Christiano. In their first game without Ronaldo, things didn’t work out well.

Empoli, a massive underdog, upset Juvy 1-0. Juventus fans must give it time. Once Allegri’s system takes hold, Juvy will once again become one of Serie A’s best squads.

Giroud and AC Milan look like a match made in heaven

For more than a few seasons AC Milan has flown under the radar. The former Serie A power could once again become the Serie A team to watch.

Milan’s new player, French superstar Olivier Giroud, struggled at Chelsea, scoring 17 goals in 75 appearances from 2018 through 2021.

In 2 appearances with AC, Giroud has a couple of goals. The entire squad looks much improved from last season. Give AC Milan a real shot to keep it going and challenge Inter, Atalanta, Napoli, and Juventus for this season’s Serie A title.

Immobile and Lazio playing great

Ciro Immobile is having fun. On Aug. 28, Lazio went 2-0 after Immobile fired off 3 goals in a stunning 6-1 victory over Spezia.

Lazio is yet another Serie A squad on the rise. Immobile scored a goal in the team’s first league match this season, a 3-1 victory over Empoli.

Since 2016, Immobile has played for Lazio. The now 31-year-old has scored 127 goals in 178 appearances. This season, it looks as if Lazio has acquired players to help Immobile.

Expect Lazio’s great play to continue, making Lazio another contender in Europe’s deepest soccer league.

Jose Mourinho and Roma are dominating

So many soccer experts decried Roma hiring Jose Mourinho that they’re impossible to count. Roma, though, is undefeated under Mourinho’s steady hand.

Roma beat Fiorentina 1-0 and Salernitana 4-0. In hindsight, we should have known Mourinho would develop a winner.

Roma’s coach has been the head person at Porto, twice at Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid for three seasons, and Tottenham. The blow-up at Tottenham is the reason so many believed he’d fail in Rome.

It’s early. So, maybe, Mourinho does end up blowing this latest chance. But based on how Roma is playing right now, that’s a longshot.

Every player is on the same page and every player is having fun. Those two things are a good recipe for long term success.
