ATP: U.S. Open Men’s Singles

Betting Analysis:
In 2022, Frances Tiafoe provided one of the most thrilling U.S. Open Semifinal runs in the history of the sport. A massive underdog, Tiafoe made it to the semis. He played excellent tennis, beating future hall of fame player Rafael Nadal on the way.

But in the semifinal, Tiafoe came up against the eventual winner, Carlos Alcaraz. Nobody was going to be Alcaraz because the only player that can beat Alcaraz appears to be Novak Djokovic.

Speaking of Djokovic, he recently bested Carlos in the finals at the Western & Southern Open. Djoker is playing lights out so no American player listed will beat Djokovic.

Beating Alcaraz shouldn’t be easy either, but Tommy Paul fell to Casper Ruud in the third round at last  year’s U.S. Open. Ruud made it to the finals. So Paul could have a decent showing.

Sinner is playing well. However, Tiafoe, Paul, and Fritz have homecourt advantage. So let’s say Djokovic beats any American he faces, but the American contingent upset Sinner if they bump heads with him and have an outside shot of besting Alvaraz depending on Carlos’ health.

Top U.S. Players

  • Frances Tiafoe
  • Tommy Paul
  • Taylor Fritz

Top European Players

  • Carlos Alcaraz
  • Novak Djokovic
  • Jannik Sinner

WTA: U.S. Open Women’s Singles

Betting Analysis:
When it comes to the women’s singles side, the three U.S. players listed can beat the three European players listed. Although at first glance, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina appear to have an advantage over Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Sloane Stephens, the fact is that the Americans should perform great.

Swiatek doesn’t always play well in major tournaments. She usually ends up losing before the final. Sabalenka is the same. Rybakina heads to the U.S. Open off a disappointing showing at the Western & Southern Open.

The player listed that all should fear is actually American Coco Gauff. Guaff has come on in recent tournaments. The U.S. Open could be Coco’s first major victory. Give Gauff the edge over her Euro opponents.

Jessica Pegula and Sloane Stephens are good enough to upset Swiatek, Sabalenka, and Rybakina. But the only player we feel comfortable writing that Jessica and Sloane beat is Rybakina. We have to assume Swiatek or Sabalenka make it to the finals where they fall to Gauff.

Based on rankings, the Americans have no shot of beating their highly-touted European opponents. However, this is the U.S. Open and save for Novak Djokovic on the men’s singles side, no European player has as massive of an edge over the top three Americans like many might believe.
