A team can win a knockout match and still lose your soccer moneyline bet. A +150 price can offer a better return than +140 without being a good wager. Understanding how soccer betting odds work means connecting the price to the exact result your ticket needs.
Read soccer odds in this order: market, selection, settlement period, line, price, stake and potential return. Then compare the price with a justified probability estimate.
Quick Answer: What Do Soccer Betting Odds Tell You?
Soccer betting odds tell you what a winning bet pays and the break-even probability implied by its price. In a standard three-way moneyline (1X2), you choose Home, Draw or Away for 90 minutes plus stoppage time. At +150, a $20 winning bet returns $50: your $20 stake plus $30 profit. The price does not guarantee a result.

How Do You Read American, Decimal and Fractional Soccer Odds?
American, decimal and fractional odds display the same price in different ways:
- American: +150 means $150 profit on a $100 winning stake. -110 means risking $110 to earn $100 profit.
- Decimal: 2.50 means a winning bet returns 2.50 times your stake, including the stake itself.
- Fractional: 3/2 means $3 profit for every $2 staked if the bet wins.
Same price, different format: +150, 2.50 and 3/2 all return $50 on a $20 winning bet.
| American | Decimal | Fractional | Profit | Total return | Raw implied probability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +150 | 2.50 | 3/2 | $30.00 | $50.00 | 40.00% |
| +250 | 3.50 | 5/2 | $50.00 | $70.00 | 28.57% |
| +180 | 2.80 | 9/5 | $36.00 | $56.00 | 35.71% |
| -110 | 1.9091 | 10/11 | $18.18 | $38.18 | 52.38% |
| -400 | 1.25 | 1/4 | $5.00 | $25.00 | 80.00% |
How Do Soccer Odds Connect Price, Payout and Probability?
At -110, you do not have to wager exactly $110; that is the benchmark for $100 profit. Smaller stakes scale proportionally. For a broader explanation of how prices, payouts and implied probability work together, see our soccer betting odds guide. For the broader sports betting foundation, visit the MyBookie Betting Academy.
How Do You Convert Decimal, American and Fractional Odds?
- Positive American +A to decimal: 1 + A / 100.
- Negative American -A to decimal: 1 + 100 / A, using A as a positive magnitude.
- Fractional a/b to decimal: 1 + a / b.
- Decimal D to American: 100 × (D − 1) when D is at least 2.00; otherwise −100 / (D − 1).
For example, 2.50 decimal converts to +150, while 1.50 converts to -200. An odds converter changes the display; it does not improve the offered price.

How Do You Read Soccer Betting Lines on a Sportsbook Board?
A soccer betting line defines a goal threshold or handicap; the odds are the price attached to that selection. In Over 2.5 goals (-110), 2.5 is the line and -110 is the price. Three goals or more win, while zero, one or two lose, for the stated settlement period.
Same 2-1 Score. Three Different Tickets.
FULL-MATCH TOTAL
Over 2.5: win
2 + 1 = 3 goals. Three clears the 2.5 threshold.
FULL-MATCH ASIAN TOTAL
Over 3.0: push
Exactly three goals returns the stake under a whole-goal Asian total.
HOME TEAM TOTAL
Over 2.5: loss
The home team scored two. The away goal does not count toward its team total.
Key Elements to Verify on Every Soccer Ticket
- Event: Confirm the teams and match date.
- Market and period: Full-match total is different from first-half total or a team total.
- Selection and line: Over 2.5 is different from Over 2.75.
- Price: -110 determines the return if the wager wins.
Sportsbook lines can move through either a price change or a threshold change. Over 2.5 at -120 and Over 3.0 at +100 require different results. Use our guide to reading soccer betting boards for more examples.
What Does 1X2 Mean in Soccer Betting, and Is a Tie a Loss?
In a three-way soccer moneyline, 1 means the home team, X means the draw and 2 means the away team. A home or away selection loses if regulation ends level. The draw selection wins. A draw is not a push in standard 1X2 betting, even if someone wins later in extra time.
A 1-1 Draw: Losing, Refunding or Winning
HOME 1X2 · $20 AT +150
$0 return
Home did not win. The entire $20 stake is lost.
HOME DRAW NO BET · $20
$20 return
A draw refunds the stake. Profit is $0.
HOME OR DRAW · $20 AT 1.40
$28 return
The draw is covered. Profit is $8 at this illustrative double-chance price.
Only One 1X2 Outcome Can Win
An illustrative board might list Home +150, Draw +250 and Away +180. These are three mutually exclusive outcomes for the same period. Read the win, lose or tie odds guide for the dedicated 1X2 explanation.
What Is the Difference Between Moneyline, Draw No Bet and Double Chance?
The main difference is what happens when the match ends in a draw. A Home 1X2 bet loses, Home Draw No Bet refunds your stake, and Home or Draw double chance wins. Compare those outcomes in the table below, then check the price offered for each market.
| Selection | Home wins | Draw | Away wins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home 1X2 | Win | Loss | Loss |
| Home Draw No Bet | Win | Stake refunded | Loss |
| Home or Draw double chance (1X) | Win | Win | Loss |
| Home Asian handicap 0 | Win | Push | Loss |
| Home -0.5 handicap | Win | Loss | Loss |
Which Markets Settle the Same Way?
When the settlement period and rules match, Draw No Bet and Asian handicap 0 handle wins, draws and losses the same way. Home 1X2 and Home -0.5 also require the same result: a home win. Their prices can differ, so compare the payout for the same winning outcome.
For further detail, see Draw No Bet explained and our 3-way versus 2-way market comparison.
How Do You Calculate Implied Probability From Soccer Odds?
For a win-or-lose soccer wager, implied probability is the break-even win rate at its price. Divide 1 by decimal odds, or use the American odds formulas below. This describes the price, not an independently measured chance of winning. Refunds and partial settlements require additional outcome probabilities.
Price-Implied Probability: Read the Percentage, Not the Sign
Formulas for Converting American and Decimal Odds
- Positive American +A: 100 / (A + 100).
- Negative American -A: A / (A + 100), using the positive magnitude.
- Decimal D: 1 / D.
Multiply by 100 for a percentage. At +150, 100 / 250 = 40.00%. At -110, 110 / 210 = 52.38%. A higher return comes with a lower price-implied probability, but that relationship alone cannot tell you whether a bet has value.
What Is Vig in Soccer Betting, and How Do You Calculate the Overround?
Vig, or juice, refers to the bookmaker margin embedded in prices. For a complete 1X2 market, calculate the implied probability of each outcome, add them and subtract 100%. The excess is the overround. It measures the quoted market’s pricing margin, not the sportsbook’s guaranteed or realized profit.
The Board Prices 104.29% of a 100% Result
40.00%Draw
28.57%Away
35.71%Combined
104.29%
The match still has only one regulation result. The excess is in the quoted prices. Using unrounded inputs, the excess above 100% is 4.29 percentage points.
Calculate the Margin on a Soccer Board
For other formats, use the betting odds calculator. Use decimal prices below to inspect a complete illustrative 1X2 board.
Soccer 1X2 Margin and Payout Calculator
Enter all three prices from one bookmaker, market and timestamp. The tool reports raw implied probabilities, proportional no-vig estimates and fully winning returns. It does not estimate true probabilities.
| Outcome | American odds | Implied probability | Proportional no-vig estimate | Estimated no-vig decimal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home | +150 | 40.00% | 38.36% | 2.6071 |
| Draw | +250 | 28.57% | 27.40% | 3.6500 |
| Away | +180 | 35.71% | 34.25% | 2.9200 |
Overround: (0.40 + 1 / 3.50 + 1 / 2.80 − 1) × 100 = 4.29%. Calculations use unrounded values; displayed probabilities may not sum exactly because of rounding.
Are No-Vig Soccer Odds the Same as True Probability?
No. No-vig calculations remove the quoted margin using an assumed method. They produce an estimate based on market prices—not proof of how likely each result is.
Example: divide Home’s 40% implied probability by the board’s combined 104.2857%: 40 ÷ 104.2857 ≈ 38.36%. Repeat for Draw and Away to produce estimates totaling 100% before rounding. This method reduces every outcome’s implied probability by the same proportion.
Other margin-removal methods can give different results. You still need your own supported estimate before calling a price good value.
Use one complete board: take Home, Draw and Away prices from the same bookmaker, market and timestamp. Mixing prices from different books will not measure one bookmaker’s margin.
Why Is Draw No Bet Probability Different From Three-Way Probability?
Draw No Bet returns your stake when the match finishes level. That means a draw produces neither profit nor loss. To evaluate the price, consider how often your team wins or loses—and how much each result pays or costs.
The example below compares expected value (EV): the estimated average profit or loss per wager if the assumed probabilities are accurate.
A Refund Can Change EV—not Just the Win Rate
Assume Home wins 45%, draws 25% and loses 30%. Compare two hypothetical $100 tickets:
| Ticket | Home win profit | Draw result | Expected profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home 1X2 at 2.30 | $130 | Lose $100 | $3.50 |
| Home DNB at 1.80 | $80 | Refund $100 | $6.00 |
Check the math: 1X2 EV = 0.45 × $130 − 0.55 × $100 = $3.50. DNB EV = 0.45 × $80 − 0.30 × $100 = $6.00.
Why Does a 45% Home-Win Estimate Become 60% for Draw No Bet?
Using the same estimates, Home wins 45%, draws 25% and loses 30%. Exclude the draws from the win-rate calculation:
- Non-draw outcomes: 45% wins + 30% losses = 75%.
- Home wins among those outcomes: 45 ÷ 75 = 60%.
- Model-based fair DNB price: 1 ÷ 0.60 = 1.6667 decimal, approximately -150, before margin.
The 60% applies only to outcomes that are not draws. It does not mean Home’s overall chance of winning has increased from 45%.
How Much Does a Soccer Bet Pay, and What Is Expected Value?
Total return is everything a winning bet pays back, including your stake. Profit is the amount left after subtracting that stake. Expected value (EV) is the estimated average profit or loss per wager, calculated from the possible results and their probabilities.
Same +150 Ticket. The Estimate Changes the Decision.
45% ESTIMATED WIN CHANCE
+$2.50 EV
0.45 × $30 profit − 0.55 × $20 loss.
40% ESTIMATED WIN CHANCE
$0.00 EV
0.40 × $30 profit − 0.60 × $20 loss.
35% ESTIMATED WIN CHANCE
−$2.50 EV
0.35 × $30 profit − 0.65 × $20 loss.
The Formula Behind the EV Example
For a bet that either wins or loses: EV = (win probability × winning profit) − (loss probability × stake).
The cards above hold the $20 stake and +150 price constant. Only the estimated winning probability changes. That is why the same offered price can look attractive under one estimate and unattractive under another.
Is +200 a Good Bet on a Soccer Underdog?
+200 means 3.00 decimal and a 33.33% break-even win rate for a win-or-lose market. It offers positive estimated EV only if your justified win probability exceeds that threshold. A long price is not automatically value, and an optimistic estimate does not become reliable just because the calculation is correct.
Is a -400 Soccer Favorite Automatically a Bad Bet?
No. At -400, the break-even win rate is 80%. The price may be attractive or unattractive depending on the actual chance of winning. Switching to a handicap can increase the return, but it also changes the required result. That does not automatically fix an overpriced favorite or protect your bankroll.
How Are Soccer Betting Lines Set, and Where Does xG Fit?
Soccer pricing can draw on team ratings, projected scoring rates, home advantage, lineups, scheduling and market information. Expected goals, or xG, helps assess the quality of chances created and conceded. These inputs can support a probability model, but they do not reveal any sportsbook’s proprietary pricing process.
0.60 xG Does Not Mean a 60% Chance of a Goal
Imagine three shots assigned 0.10, 0.20 and 0.30 xG. Their combined xG is 0.60: the sum of their estimated goal probabilities.
EXPECTED GOAL COUNT
0.60
0.10 + 0.20 + 0.30. Expected counts add.
AT LEAST ONE GOAL
49.6%
If the shots were independent: 1 − (0.90 × 0.80 × 0.70).
Why Can xG Differ Between Providers?
Hudl Statsbomb defines xG as an estimate of a shot’s probability of becoming a goal. Different providers can assign different values because their models use different information. Past xG totals are not automatically a forecast of the next match.
How Does a Poisson Model Estimate a Soccer Score?
A basic Poisson model converts a team’s projected scoring rate into probabilities for scoring zero, one, two or more goals. Its formula is P(k goals) = e−λ × λk / k!, where λ is the projected goal rate and k is the goal count being evaluated.
Example: Calculating the Chance of a 1-0 Score
Assume projected scoring rates of 1.60 goals for Home and 1.00 for Away. These are averages used by the model—not a prediction that either team will score a fractional goal.
- Home scores exactly one: e−1.60 × 1.60 ≈ 32.30%.
- Away scores zero: e−1.00 ≈ 36.79%.
- Home wins 1-0: assuming independent goal counts, 32.30% × 36.79% ≈ 11.88%.
What this means: 1-0 is one possible score. To estimate the chance of any home win, the model must also include 2-0, 2-1, 3-0 and every other home-winning score.
How Do Score Probabilities Become Match Odds?
Add the probabilities of every score where Home scores more goals to estimate a home win. Add equal scores for the draw, and scores where Away scores more for an away win. Convert each resulting probability into a model-based fair decimal price using decimal odds = 1 ÷ probability, before bookmaker margin.
Example: From Goal Rates to a Home-Win Price
With the same independent Poisson assumptions—1.60 home goals and 1.00 away goals—the combined score probabilities produce approximately:
- Home win: 51.34% → model-based fair decimal odds of 1.95.
- Draw: 25.00% → model-based fair decimal odds of 4.00.
- Away win: 23.66% → model-based fair decimal odds of 4.23.
If an illustrative Home 1X2 price is 2.10 decimal, its break-even rate is 47.62%. That is below the model’s 51.34% estimate, suggesting positive estimated value—but only if the inputs and model are reliable.
Test the model before trusting the apparent edge. This example assumes each team’s goal count is independent and uses a fixed scoring rate. Real matches can change after red cards, tactical adjustments or goals. Test predictions on matches that were not used to build the model, then compare the predicted probabilities with how often those outcomes actually occurred.
These examples use assumed inputs. They are not forecasts for an actual fixture or an explanation of MyBookie’s internal pricing model. Build your assessment with our guides to team form beyond wins and losses and injuries and starting lineups. How Does Asian Handicap Work in Soccer Betting?
An Asian handicap applies a goal adjustment and can produce a win, loss, push or partial settlement. A quarter-goal line divides the stake equally between its adjacent whole and half-goal lines. For example, -0.75 splits into -0.5 and -1.0. Each half settles separately at the ticket’s quoted odds.
Home Wins 1-0: Follow Both Halves of -0.75
$100 STAKE · +100 ODDS
$50 on -0.5
The half-goal selection wins. This half returns $100: $50 stake plus $50 profit.
$100 STAKE · +100 ODDS
$50 on -1.0
A one-goal win equals the whole-goal handicap. This half pushes and returns $50.
Interpreting Quoted Prices and Market Availability
These examples assume a pre-match, full-match Asian handicap at 2.00 decimal (+100). They explain settlement; they do not confirm availability for any particular MyBookie match.
| Handicap | Stake split | Selected team wins by 1 | Draw | Selected team loses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| -0.25 | $50 on 0; $50 on -0.5 | Full win: $200 return | Half loss: $50 return | Full loss: $0 return |
| -0.75 | $50 on -0.5; $50 on -1 | Half win: $150 return | Full loss: $0 return | Full loss: $0 return |
What if Home wins by two or more goals? Both halves of the -0.75 wager win. At the example’s +100 price, the $100 stake returns $200, including $100 profit.
Is European Handicap -1 the Same as Asian Handicap -1?
No. A standard three-way European handicap includes a handicap-draw selection. If your team wins by exactly one goal, a -1 adjustment makes the adjusted score level: the handicap-draw selection wins and the team -1 selection loses. A two-way Asian -1 selection instead pushes and returns the stake.
Likewise, -1.5 requires a win by at least two goals. Read the market label before assuming a push is possible. Explore the soccer handicap guide for broader context.
How Do Over/Under Goals and Quarter-Goal Totals Work?
Soccer totals price the combined goals in the stated period. Over 2.5 needs at least three; Under 2.5 needs two or fewer. Whole-goal Asian totals can push, while quarter-goal totals divide the stake across adjacent lines. The threshold depends on the match; 2.5 is not a universal rule.
One Goal Changes the Quarter-Total Settlement
| Regulation score | Total goals | Over 2 half | Over 2.5 half | Total return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-0 | 1 | Loss | Loss | $0 |
| 1-1 | 2 | Push | Loss | $50 |
| 2-1 | 3 | Win | Win | $200 |
What Happens When a 2.75 Total Lands on Three Goals?
At exactly three goals, Over 2.75 produces a half-win, while Under 2.75 produces a half-loss. Each example below uses a $100 stake at +100.
| Selection | Stake split | Result | Total return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Over 2.75 | $50 Over 2.5; $50 Over 3 | Half wins; half pushes | $150: $50 net profit |
| Under 2.75 | $50 Under 2.5; $50 Under 3 | Half loses; half pushes | $50: $50 net loss |
Understanding Quarter-Goal Split Mechanics
These splits match the quarter-total examples in MyBookie’s help guidance. For a fuller explanation, see the soccer over/under betting guide.
What Is BTTS in Soccer Betting, and Is It the Same as Over 2.5?
BTTS means Both Teams to Score. Yes needs at least one goal from each team in the stated period; No wins if at least one team finishes scoreless. It is different from a total: 1-1 wins BTTS Yes but loses Over 2.5, while 3-0 wins Over 2.5 but loses BTTS Yes.
Because these outcomes can overlap, combining them requires attention to correlation. Do not treat BTTS and a goal total as independent probabilities.
What Does Regular Time Mean in Soccer Betting, and Does Extra Time Count?
For standard MyBookie pre-match soccer markets, regular time means 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts do not count. MyBookie’s help rules identify To Qualify and Team to Win the Final as exceptions. First-half and second-half markets cover their respective 45 minutes plus stoppage time.
Stoppage Time Counts. Extra Time Is a Different Period.
90+4 MINUTES
Home scores: 2-1
A goal during added stoppage time counts toward the standard 90-minute result.
105 MINUTES
Home scores: 2-1
If regulation finished 1-1, a goal in extra time does not change that 1X2 draw settlement.
Historical Examples and Multi-Leg Settlement Rules
Real match, different tickets: Germany and Argentina were level after regulation in the 2014 World Cup final. Germany won 1-0 in extra time through Mario Götze. Under a standard 90-minute 1X2 contract, Draw wins and Germany loses; a Germany Team to Win the Final selection wins under rules including extra time. Historical prices are not needed to demonstrate the difference.
FIFA records the extra-time winner in the 2014 final. The match outcome is historical; the ticket comparison illustrates the settlement rules described here.
For two-legged ties, MyBookie’s help rules say To Qualify and Winning Method consider both legs. Confirm that you are betting on the tie rather than one match. Explicit extra-time or shootout markets have their own stated periods. See regular time versus extra time.
Why Do Soccer Odds Change Before Kickoff and During Live Betting?
Soccer odds can move after lineup news, injuries, suspensions, weather changes or betting activity. Sportsbooks may also respond to exposure and other market prices. During live betting, the score, remaining time and red cards reshape possible results. A price change alone does not establish its cause or prove informed money arrived.
Same $20 Stake. The Price Changed Before Acceptance.
BOARD SHOWS +150
$50 winning return
This is the displayed offer: $20 stake plus $30 profit.
ACCEPTED TICKET SHOWS +120

The accepted price gives $24 profit. The board screenshot does not preserve the earlier offer.
Does a Live Bet Include Goals Already Scored?
Before placing a live handicap bet, check whether it includes the current score or counts only what happens after the wager. A team leading 1-0 can need a different result under those two rules. The market label and settlement terms must tell you which applies.
MyBookie’s live help rules allow bets to be voided for specified errors, including a market left open after a goal, red card or penalty, an incorrect score or certain VAR changes. An outdated price is not a guaranteed opportunity.
What Does Closing Line Value Tell You?
For the same selection and contract, taking +150 before a +120 closing price secures a higher return. That is favorable price movement, often described as closing line value. It can help review decisions over many wagers, but the closing price is still a market estimate and does not prove one bet was profitable.
Compare periods, lines, rules and timestamps consistently. Read opening versus closing soccer lines for more detail.
How Do Soccer Parlay, Correct-Score and Player-Prop Odds Differ?
Each market prices a different event. Correct score requires an exact score in the specified period; player props require a stated player outcome. Parlays combine selections and require the ticket’s conditions to be met. Their higher potential returns do not establish better value, and related selections require a joint probability estimate.
BTTS + Over 2.5: Why You Cannot Multiply Blindly
| Score | BTTS Yes | Over 2.5 |
|---|---|---|
| 1-1 | Win | Loss |
| 3-0 | Loss | Win |
| 2-1 | Win | Win |
Probability example: if BTTS Yes is estimated at 60% and Over 2.5 at 55%, independence would give 33% for both. If a joint model instead estimates 40%, the fair decimal price would be 2.50—not approximately 3.03.
How Do You Calculate a Two-Leg Parlay Return?
For an illustrative all-win parlay using multiplied decimal prices, 2.00 × 1.80 = 3.60, so $20 returns $72. If the outcomes are independent and your estimates are 50% and 55%, their joint probability is 27.5%. That is below the 27.78% break-even rate at 3.60. Same-match selections often violate independence.
Confirm the accepted combined price and the rules for voids, pushes and partial settlements. Our soccer parlay guide covers the broader structure.
Does the Player Need to Start?
Check the participation rule for the exact player market. MyBookie’s pre-match player-market help section says the wager is void if the player does not start. Live Anytime Goalscorer includes starters and substitutes who participate. Do not apply one market’s rule to another.
Which MyBookie Soccer Rules Can Change Settlement?
The price determines the winning return, but the market rules determine whether a result qualifies and whether the wager has action. Check postponement, interruption, player participation and stat definitions before betting. The supplied help guidance distinguishes pre-match and live rules, so the same event can require different checks.
A Recorded Event Is Not Always a Settled Statistic

Check These Rules Before Betting
- Pre-match postponement: MyBookie’s help rules void bets if the match does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled start.
- Pre-match interruption: MyBookie’s help rules void bets if play is not continued within 48 hours of kickoff, subject to stated market-specific exceptions such as already reached early-payout outcomes.
- Live interruption: If play continues within 48 hours, open bets settle on the final result; otherwise undecided bets are void.
- Corners: Corners awarded but not taken do not count.
- Goalscorers: Standard listed pre-match goalscorer rules exclude own goals. A separately named live Next Goalscorer variant can include an own-goal selection.
- Cards versus booking points: The supplied live rules count yellow/red cards as 1/2, capped at 3 per player. Booking points use 10/25, capped at 35 per player. Read the unit on your market.
For account and general wagering terms, review MyBookie rules; use the match-specific help rules for soccer settlement details. Market-specific terms and the final accepted ticket remain essential.
How Do You Compare Soccer Odds and Place a Wager on MyBookie?
Compare soccer betting odds only after matching the event, market, selection, period, line and rules. A higher decimal price offers a larger return for the same winning contract. Then check whether your probability estimate justifies that price. Confirm the final accepted wager rather than treating a displayed board price as fixed.
Compare Equivalent Tickets Before Comparing Prices

SAME PERIOD AND RULES
Home -0.5: +140
Under matching standard result rules, it also needs Home to win. A $20 win returns $48.
Check Your MyBookie Betslip in Five Steps
- Open current MyBookie soccer odds and find the match.
- Choose the exact market and settlement period.
- Check the line and price against your estimated probabilities, including any refunds or partial outcomes.
- Enter a stake within your preset budget and inspect the potential return.
- Review the betslip and confirm acceptance, price, stake and selection before recording the wager.
For the same 1X2 selection, +150 returns more than +140 when it wins. By contrast, +150 Home 1X2 and +140 Home -0.75 are different contracts, so comparing the prices alone is misleading. Explore the MyBookie soccer betting guide or the complete how-to-bet-on-soccer guide for broader instruction.
Does Bitcoin Betting Change Soccer Odds or Probability?
Bitcoin betting and crypto betting describe how an account may be funded or denominated; they do not change soccer settlement rules or make a selection more likely to win. For online betting, verify supported payment methods, fees, exchange rates and account terms separately. Currency movements can affect value outside the wager’s result.
Whether you bet on sports with fiat or cryptocurrency, comparing odds for sports still requires the same market and accepted terms. A funding method is separate from the evidence needed to justify a soccer bet.
FAQ
What Does +150 Mean in Soccer Betting?
+150 means a $100 winning stake earns $150 profit and returns $250 including the stake. It has 40% raw implied probability, with the selected market determining what result is needed to win.
What Does -110 Mean in Soccer Betting?
-110 means staking $110 to earn $100 profit, or proportionally less with a smaller stake. Its raw implied probability is 52.38%.
What Does PK Mean in Soccer Betting?
PK means pick’em, commonly a zero handicap. In a two-way Asian handicap 0 market, a win wins, a loss loses and a draw pushes.
Are Shorter Soccer Odds More Likely to Win?
Shorter odds imply a higher probability in the quoted pricing, but they do not guarantee success or establish value.
Do Premier League, Champions League and MLS Odds Use Different Math?
No. The odds-conversion and payout formulas are the same, but match context, pricing and settlement conditions can differ by market.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
How Soccer Betting Odds Work: One Example
Soccer odds attach a price to a defined outcome. That price determines the winning payout and its implied probability. The market rules determine which result wins.
Example ticket: $20 on Home to win at +150 in a standard 90-minute 1X2 market.
-
1. Read the Price
+150 = 2.50
American and decimal formats describe the same price: $1.50 profit per $1 staked if the ticket wins.
-
2. Calculate the Return
$50 total return
$20 × 2.50 = $50, including the returned $20 stake. Your net profit is $30.
-
3. Read the Probability
40% break-even
1 ÷ 2.50 = 40%. This is the price-implied break-even rate for this win-or-lose ticket, not its proven chance of winning.
-
4. Check the Result
Home must win
A 2-1 home win pays. A 1-1 draw loses the $20 stake. Count 90 minutes plus stoppage time; extra time does not rescue this 1X2 ticket.
Where does pricing margin appear? Add the implied probabilities of Home, Draw and Away from the same complete board. A combined 104.29% gives a 4.29% overround—not a guaranteed sportsbook profit or a measure of true probability.
Final Thoughts: How Do Soccer Betting Odds Work?
Soccer betting odds attach a price to a specific outcome, determining the potential payout and price-implied probability. To evaluate that price, account for bookmaker margin, the draw, the settlement period and any refunds or partial returns.
The key takeaway: understand what your ticket needs before judging what it pays. Compare the accepted price with a justified probability estimate, confirm the market rules and keep the stake within your budget. Waiting for more information can help your assessment, but it does not guarantee a better price or a winning wager.
