With 16 races in the Formula-E season, there is a long way to go before we see a World Champion crowned. The drivers at the top of the standings right now might not be there once we get to the final weekend, but it has certainly been an exciting start to the season, The task for the leaders now is to not lose the early momentum that they have gathered through the opening 3 races of the season. After a doubleheader in Diriyah, the action now moves to India for the Hyderabad Grand Prix, which is set to go on Saturday afternoon. Let’s take a quick look at some of the Formula E drivers analysis who might be in among the leaders this weekend.

Pascal Wehrlein

Wehrlein has made an amazing start to the season, and you have to say that it’s something that no one really saw coming. Through his first 4 seasons in Formula-E, Wehrlein has failed to crack the top 10 in the overall driver standings, During that time, he had managed just 1 win, with that one coming in Mexico City last year. He got out to fast start in the opening race, finishing 2nd in that one, but he took control in Diriyah, winning both races of the doubleheader. Is his start to the season a flash in the pan or a sign of better things to come?

Jake Dennis

In the early going, it has very much been a 2-driver race for the top spot. It has been close to impossible to match what Wehrlein has done through the opening 3 races of the season, but Jake Dennis has come close. He opened the season with a win, after which he finished 2nd behind Wehrlein in the two races in Diriyah. This is a bit of a bounce back season for Dennis, or at least that is the plan. He finished 3rd overall in his first FE season before dropping to 6th overall last year. 3 races in, Dennis has already come close to matching his total podium finishes from last season, so he is worth a look this weekend.

Sebastien Buemi

Buemi sitting in 3rd after the opening 3 races may come as a surprise given what he has done over the last couple of seasons, but it actually looks like a return to form. If you haven’t been following Formula-E for long, you may not be aware that Buemi is a former champion, winning it all back in 2016. He was, in fact, no worse than 4th overall in his first 6 seasons at this level before stalling over the past 2 years. This may be a sign that he is ready to challenge again.

Sam Bird

This is another driver who has some early success in Formula-E, albeit without winning a championship, before going through a rough patch. His worst season at this level came last year, when he finished 13th overall. Things got off to a bad start for him this season, as he was forced to retire in the opening race. Since then, though, he has finished 3rd and 4th, respectively, which has him back in the hunt at the top of the driver standings. He will be looking to build on that this weekend.
