Formula E 2022 New York City E-Prix Odds Favorites, Betting Analysis, and Prediction

We have said it before and we will say it again, if you are not paying attention to Formula E, you are missing out on some great racing action. The battle for the top spot in the driver standings is about as tight as it gets, and we actually saw a major shift in those standings after the previous race in Marrakesh. There is the possibility that things change dramatically again this weekend, as we have a doubleheader on tap. The drivers will be in New York City for a pair of races, with are set for July 16th and 17th. This is the first of 3 doubleheaders that will close out the season, with London and Seoul the final 2 destinations. It looks like being an exciting week of action in the Big Apple, so let’s look at some of the top drivers this season and you can continue making your bets against their Formula E Odds.

Formula E Betting Preview for the 2022 NY City E-Prix Race

Edoardo Mortara

After being forced to retire in back-to-back races earlier this season, it looked as though Mortara’s hopes of a world championship might be dead in the water. He had 1 win prior to those missed point opportunities, but he has been on fire ever since, landing on the podium in 4 straight races, with a pair of wins included in that run. His most recent win came in the last race in Marrakesh, which was enough to get him to the top of the driver standings with 139 points. It will be interesting to see how he does this weekend, though, as he has never done well in NYC, with 14th being his best ever finish.

Jean-Eric Vergne

After winning the Formula E World Championship in back-to-back seasons, Vergne had a couple of down seasons, where he finished 3rd and 10th, respectively. He is looking to bounce back in a big way in 2022 and is currently within just 11 points of the lead. That standing is all the more impressive when you consider that he has yet to win a race this season, although he does have 5 podium finishes. He has won in NYC in the past and finished 2nd there last year, so definitely one to watch this weekend.

Stoffel Vandoorne

Winning a championship means staying as consistent as possible throughout an entire season, which is incredibly hard to do against tough competition. Vandoorne is finding that out now after losing his lead atop the driver standings after a bit of a rough go of things in Marrakesh. He finished 8th in that one, following up a 5th in Jakarta, which has allowed the chasing pack to close him down and overtake coming down the home stretch. Vandoorne is still very much in the hunt, but he needs a good run in both races this weekend. 8th is his best finish in NYC, so no guarantees of success at all.

Mitch Evans

With 3 wins on the season already, it would not be a good idea to count Evans out of the championship conversation. He may be down in 4th in the driver standings heading into the weekend, but he is also just 15 points out of top spot. A great pair of runs this weekend might be enough to get him even closer to the #1 position. Evans has not been great in New York, but he did have a 2nd place finish there a coupe of years back.
