Superbike Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Odds Favorites, Betting Analysis and Picks 2023

Regardless of the sport in question, there is nothing better than getting to the start of a new season. For fans of superbike, that season starts this weekend, with the riders heading to Australia for Round 1 of the world championship. If you are somewhat new to the sport, there may be some things that you are not aware of, especially in comparison to MotoGP. The main difference is the bikes themselves, with superbikes being highly modified, street legal bikes as opposed to the built for racing bikes in MotoGP. The superbike season consists of 12 rounds, with 3 races in each to make a 36 race season. With all that said, let’s look at the Superbike Odds and some potential favorites for this weekend.

Alvaro Bautista

If you are going to talk about potential winners, you need to talk about the man starting the season as the defending champion. Bautista finished last season with 16 wins, which was just 1 shy of the single season record. It was his 1st world title and came in his 4th season in superbike. It was also his best finish since his debut season at this level, when he finished 2nd overall. That came back in 2019 and included wins in all 3 races in Australia. He has not won there since, though, although this will be the first race down under since 2020. Regardless, he has to be seen as a favorite this weekend.

Jonathan Rea

While it has been a couple of years since last winning a world championship, you simply cannot overlook Rea heading into the new season. Between 2015 and 2020, he won 6 straight championships, making him the most successful rider in the history of superbike. Over the past 2 seasons, he finished 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively, so he is always in the mix when it comes down to the battle for superbike supremacy. In his last 6 rides in Australia, Rea has a win and no less than 4 2nd place finishes, so expect him to be among the leaders again this weekend.

Toprak Razgatlioglu

This will be the 6th full season competing in superbike for the Turkish rider, and he has had some real success during his time in the sport. This is especially true in the last 4 seasons, where he has not finished outside of the top 5 overall. He won it all in 2021 and came close again last year, finishing 2nd overall. As we have already mentioned, it was 2020 the last time the riders were in Australia and Razgatlioglu had some success then, winning one of the 3 races and finishing 2nd in another. He will likely be at or near the top again all season long.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi

With the previous 3 riders that we have discussed, we have covered every world championship winner since 2015. With that in mind, it makes sense that those 3 would be considered the favorites again this season, but I would not sleep on Rinaldi. He has finished progressive higher each season since joining the superbike ranks in 2018, with his 4th place overall finish last year being the best of his career. He has not had a ton of joy in Australia, but he looks like a guy ready to challenge for the top spot.
