It was another wild week in college football, with some changes made to the National Rankings. After Georgia won, but once again struggled in Week 5, they dropped out of the #1 spot to be replaced by Alabama. Ole Miss made a nice move up the rankings after moving to 5-0, and they are emerging as the team most likely to cause the Crimson Tide some problems in the SEC West. There are some huge games on the schedule this week and we have our usual set of picks for you. After back-to-back weeks of perfect ATS picks, we dropped off a little last week, going 1-2 with our College Football Betting selections to go to 11-5 on the season. Let’s see of we can bounce back in Week 6 of the college football season.
NCAAF Week 6 Against the Spread Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
Auburn Tigers (+29 ½) at Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs needed a gritty come from behind win to take out Missouri on the road this past weekend. While the Dawgs are 5-0, the last couple of weeks have not been great, with errors happening all over the field. With those performances in mind, it is more than a little surprising to see them in as a 29 ½ point favorite versus Auburn this coming weekend. Yes, they are a superior team to the Tigers, but until they clear up those errors and get back on track, I don’t feel good about taking the Bulldogs to cover. Georgia has now failed to cover in their last 5 home games, so let’s see if that run extends to 6.
Virginia Tech Hokies at Pittsburgh Panthers (-14 ½)
This is a critical game for both teams as they look to get back in the hunt for the Coastal Division in the ACC. Both have already taken conference losses and taking another could well mean the end of the road in terms of winning the division and getting to the Conference Championship Game. The Hokies have lost 2 in a row coming into this one, while the Pittsburgh Panthers are also coming off a loss in Week 5. This has been a nightmare matchup for the Virginia Tech Hokies over the years, as they have now failed to cover the spread in each of their last 8 visits to Pittsburgh. The Panthers have not covered in their last 5 on home field, but this might be the one to snap them out of that run.
Duke Blue Devils (-3) at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
We are sticking with the ACC for our final ATS picks for Week 6 of the college football season. Duke is out to a fast start this season, going 4-1, including 1-0 in conference play, through the opening 5 weeks. On the flipside, Georgia Tech is 2-3, but they are coming off a big win over Pitt last time out. You look at Duke going 1-9 ATS in their last 10 road games and automatically dismiss them here, but that might be a mistake. While they have not been a great spread bet in general, the Blue Devils are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 meetings with the Yellow Jackets, and this spread is small enough to have me thinking they might just improve on that record.
