NCAAF Season Week 16 ATS Picks Expert Analysis

Written by on December 14, 2020

We have, over the course of the college football season, spoken about how strange it has been compared to others. Trying to play in a pandemic was always going to make it feel different, but seeing games postponed or moved has played havoc with the schedule. This is the weekend when we will see the Conference Championship Games, but we are also going to see a few of regular season games in there, too, as teams try their best to complete a full season. Some will come up short, but you still have to say that the NCAA has done a solid job of getting us to the big games, mostly unscathed. Let’s now look ahead to Week 16 and our ATS picks, along with their NCAAF odds.

NCAAF ATS Picks for Week 16 | College Football Betting

Washington Huskies at USC Trojans (-7)

The first of the Conference Championship Games will go on Friday night, which is another sign of how strange this season is, with Washington on the road at USC. This game is a go for now, but word is that the PAC-12 has alternates ready to go of either of these teams are unable to play. Let’s assume that this is the matchup that we will see and take it from there. There are reasons to like both of these teams against the spread, starting with the fact that the Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 5 games played on a Friday night. On the flipside, the USC Trojans have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games as a home favorite. I like the unbeaten Trojans to roll at home, and I also like them to cover.

Texas A&M Aggies (-14 ½) at Tennessee Volunteers

No team is going to be paying more attention to the Conference Championship Games this weekend than the Texas A&M Aggies. The come into the final week of the season with a 7-1 record, which leaves them sitting just outside the top 4. If they can win here and we see an upset in one of the big games, the Aggies might well be seriously considered as a playoff team. Frist things first, though, they need to put on a show on the road to the Tennessee Volunteers. You would certainly like the Aggies to get the win here, but will they cover the spread? There are some trends that would suggest that they can do just that. Texas A&M is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite. They are also 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games versus teams with a losing home record.

Clemson Tigers Vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+10 ½)

The ACC Conference Championship Game is one that could have an impact on Texas A&M. If Clemson loses to Notre Dame and takes their second loss of the season, it would be hard to have them in the top 4 ahead of the Aggies, although you never really know what the Playoff Committee is going to do. The Irish come into this game with a perfect 10-0 record, yet they are still in as a double-digit underdog against a team they have already beaten this season, although Trevor Lawrence was not in the lineup for Clemson for that one. That aside, the Irish are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games versus teams with winning records. They are also 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games. I like them to keep it close.
