The college football season is moving quickly, with the first 5 weeks already in the books. While there have been plenty of surprises already, a quick look at the top 4 reveals some very familiar names. We are, though, getting into the part of the season where things can really begin to change. From this point forward, we are going to be seeing a lot of conference matchups, which are very often games where anything can happen. This is essentially the gauntlet that leads to the end of the season and figuring out who makes it into the playoffs. As always, there are a ton of big games this weekend, and we are going to pick 3 that we like for SU wagers. I’ll be sticking to games that bookies see as being close so that we can find some College Football Betting value, so let’s get to it and see if we can match our perfect week from Week 5.
Week 6 Straight-Up Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
Tennessee Volunteers over LSU Tigers
We get our SU picks started with what looks to be a very good SEC matchup. The Tennessee Volunteers hit the road as a modest 3 ½ point favorite in what is always a very tough place to go and get a result. Given how things have gone to this point, the Volunteers are looking like the biggest challenger for the Georgia Bulldogs in the East Division. That, though, could change with a loss here and a Georgia win over Auburn. This Tennessee team looks like the real deal to me, and I think they have a very good shot at going into hostile territory and coming out the other side with the win. As far as trends go, the road team has covered in 6 of the last 8 meetings.
Maryland Terrapins over Purdue Boilermakers
When you look at the offensive and defensive stats for these two, you see a pair of teams that are very evenly matched, which is perhaps why the bookies have this one down as being close. Both teams have winning records, although Maryland is a little better at 4-1 on the season, plus they have the advantage of playing at home this weekend. It should be noted that Purdue has won 6 of their last 8 games, so this is by no means a slam dunk. I think we are looking at a very close game here, but I think it will be Maryland that comes away with the win in this one.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane over Navy Midshipmen
Another potentially close one in the eyes of the bookies, with Tulsa going into this game as a 4 ½ point road favorite. This may come as a bit of a surprise given that they are just 2-7 SU in their last 9 meetings with Navy, but this version of the Midshipmen certainly looks to be there for the taking. Tulsa has gone 6-2 in their last 8 versus the West Division, but perhaps more convincing is that they have covered the spread in 16 of their last 18 games on the road. Combine that with Navy being winless in their last 5 home games and you have what I believe adds up to a Tulsa win.
