Week 11 College football: TCU vs. Texas Betting Preview

Written by on November 10, 2022

With Week 11 of College football underway, the Big 12 features one of the most exciting matchups of the week when Texas Christian Horned Frogs take on the Texas Longhorns on the 40 acres.

All TCU has done is win. Sonny DYkes and the Horned Frogs have posted an undefeated record in the 2022 campaign and find themselves in the college football playoff picture coming in with a ranking of number four in the country.

Texas has come on strong as of late, winning four of their last four games, and comes into this one as the surprising home favorite. Here everything for your NCAAF betting.

TCU Horned Frogs vs. Texas Longhorns Wildcats

Horned Frogs Face Toughest Test Yet

Offensive guru Sonny Dykes has the Horned Frogs clicking on all cylinders as they have dominated Big 12 play going undefeated up to this point in the season.

TCU is the only remaining unbeaten team in the conference, and they find themselves among the top four seeds in the college football playoff picture. TCU is led by Senior quarterback Max Duggan who has thrown for an impressive 24 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

In his first season, Dykes has done nothing but win in Fort Worth. TCU boasts a top-five offensive unit as the squad is averaging 43 points per game, good for fourth in the country.

Their biggest weakness lies in defense, where they concede 27 points per game. TCU has covered the spread in seven of its nine contests thus far. They will look to play upset once again when they hit the road in Austin.

Longhorns Look to Defend Home Field and Give TCU First Loss

Texas is on the rise with Steve Sarkesian at the helm. Quinn Ewers has proved he is the answer at the quarterback position, as the young freshman has displayed a strong arm and the ability to lead under center. Texas looks for another strong performance after winning four of their last five games.

One cannot talk about the Longhorn offense without mentioning Bijan Robinson, who is arguably the best running back in the country. The Junior has amassed over 1,100 yards rushing through nine games and is averaging almost six yards a carry.

Texas could have easily been an undefeated or a one-loss team if it was not for losing Quinn Ewers and blowing some fourth-quarter leads. All of this suggests the Longhorns are a dangerous team.

Betting Lines & Odds

According to Mybookie, Texas is the betting favorite in this encounter, with the spread set at 7.0 points (-110). In terms of the moneyline, Texas is given odds of -275 to win at home, while TCU is the road underdog at +215 despite holding an undefeated record. Finally, the total for the Over/Under in this matchup is listed at 65 points (-110).

The line is a bit puzzling. The Horned Frogs have dominated Big 12 play, while Texas has blown a fourth-quarter lead to Oklahoma State, lost in overtime to Texas Tech, and blew another lead against Alabama. One thing Texas has going for them is that they are undefeated at home this year.

Not only do I like TCU in this matchup for their stellar play this season, but the Horned Frogs have been very competitive against the Longhorns when it comes to previous matchups.

TCU won outright 33-31 the last time these two met in Austin and kept the game within five points in last year’s battle in Fort Worth.

Be that as it may, Texas has dominated TCU in the overall series with a 64-27-1 advantage. Although I think Texas will ultimately win this one, TCU has too much to play for being in the middle of a playoff battle.

Getting a touchdown for the nation’s fourth-best offense is the easy play in this matchup.
